Yeah, my mistake. That was last year he was in AAA; not sure why I thought Chicago started him in AAA.

Kris Bryant is our best prospect. And Soler is probably the second best. Russell being at best our third best prospect speaks volumes og our farm.
I realize Russell is ranked higher by BA and publications like that but it's for other reasons besides how good each player is right now. Right now I believe Soler is better.

Schwarber's now homered in his last five games.

Last 12 games: 21-45, 15 XBH (7 HR), 13 RBI

good day in the farm system. Bryant and soler homered in tripleA, Russell homered in double A, and schwarber homered twice

For the second day in a row.

Soler reached base 5 times yesterday. He also reached 6 times the game before.

So, are we now only a week away from seeing Soler get the call?

Most likely. Pick him up now for your fantasy baseball playoffs.

If you're saying because he's closer to the bigs I agree. But SS is such a premium position...and he hasn't been repeatedly hampered by injury, so I completely understand, and probably support, the russell over soler ranking.

Forced to make the choice of having soler or russell...i'd take russell.

Kris Bryant is well on his way to claiming the home run crown for all of the minor leagues. Yesterday he launched his 43rd long ball of the season; that put him three ahead of Joey Gallo with about a week to play. Both play in hitter friendly leagues, so I don’t see an advantage for either slugger in that category. This race will come down to whether Gallo can out-homer Bryant by three or more bombs over the span of a week’s worth of games. Barring an injury, that won’t be easy.

If you’re wondering how common a 43 homer season is in minor league baseball, the answer is “It isn’t common at all.” Fangraphs has data going back to 2006, and in that data the closest to Bryant is Dallas Mcpherson with the Marlins Triple A team in 2008. He had 42. That means you could argue, if you wanted to, that Kris Bryant is putting together one of the best seasons in history from a minor league slugger.

Bryant will likely be in Wrigley next April.

any reason, or just because he's closer?

Don't get me wrong I think the world of soler, but injury prone corner outfielder doesn't turn my crank as much as (and granted it was a lot of puffery) barry larkin-esque short stop.

Have you watched him play? Kid is smooth.

I will grant that if going for the safest play, soler is the smart bet.

Fortunately, I don't have to choose.

I think my reason comes down to me seeing Soler play in person and I sort of fell in Bryant-like love with his approach, power and arm. There's nothing wrong with your answer at all. Like you said, we don't even have to choose.

I can understand that. I typically get to see these guys at AA not AAA so i'm jealous of the LA folk that get to see them play the zephers.

Feels like i saw the only games bryant didn't hit a home run in AA this year. So he's on my shite list (kidding of course)

I was lucky enough to see Soler and Bryant homer in the same game down here. I said it once before, but the Iowa Cubs completely outclassed the Zephyrs roster.

Between Arrieta, Wada, and Hendricks, we may be on to something going into next season.

If we can land a legit SP1, I am totally comfortable with Arrieta as a 2 (even though he's pitched like a 1, good problem to have). Wada and Hendricks look like they may be able to fill out the back of the rotation.

I agree. he's had enough repeat performances to make me think bosio harnessed his stuff and he's just living up to potential now.

Also agree. Same thing though, I keep waiting for them to regress but so far so good.

Such an awesome problem to have.
Whats your opinion on Russell and Bryant either if he stays at 3rd or not ?
