Bryant is the cream of the crop. that guy is so polished it's unbelievable. If he sticks at 3rd he takes his already sky high stock to ridiculous heights. Can't wait for next April/May when he shows up. And to think. I wanted apple. Proof I'm clueless.

I fully expect him to win RoY next year.

Bryant still has holes in his swing.

If he isn't up next month, he won't be up in April/May. It'll be early June.

He'll K a ton, hit around .250 with tons of bombs and draw a lot of walks. Perennial all star talent. Love the player.

When Bryant gets the call, I may as well drive over to the doctor's office because I will have an erection that will last longer than four hours.

I disagree. I truly believe he will average around .300 with 30-40 homeruns, 15-25 steals, and have a war similar to Trout if he can stick at third which I'm in the minority of thinking he will.
Im not defending Theo and Jed here but that's why I think we haven't seen him yet.
I really doubt were pinching penny's with service time when it comes to a generational talent like this. There Is just too high a chance of hurt feelings for them to play games like that.
I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the fall instructional league solely to work on his defensive footwork at third.
On a related note, how excited are we that Soler is coming up today. The future is now. The kiddie Cubs are for real and coming to a postseason near you.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it now. Jon Lester will be a Cub this offseason.
Id also like to see us sign a veteran position player. Theres not many open spots available.
The one spot that we could upgrade in the short term offensively is catcher.
I'd really like to see us make a run at Russell Martin. He would provide offense from behind the dish, mentor Welly, and be that veteran with postseason experience that can be invaluable to a young talented team on the rise.
The more I think about the more perfect it sounds. Get on it Theo.
Next year, we'll be at least a wild card, and the beginning of the dynasty.

That doesn't really jive with most speculation out of Chicago. Why June if not called up in september. Thinking the cubs hold him back for super 2? I just don't see that being the case.

He'll be up next June past Super Two if we don't see him next month.

No chance he's up April/May if he's not up next month.

Lol at the guy saying he'll hit .300.

Not trying to be smug, and sorry if it comes off that way, but i don't think that's much of a limb. And I expect the cubs will get one of the 'lesser' FA pitching options too.

Ok, but so long as we keep john baker, that guy is hysterical.

Anyone know the story with Yasmani Tomas, ie when he'll be available, is he major league ready, and if not how much development?

Yea i understand that's what you're saying, what i'm asking is why?

If you're suggesting he could be up in September, then it's fair to speculate that he's ready, so holding him back wouldn't be for development, it would be strictly financial, correct? We're not talking about the astros here, so I'm not convinced the cubs stunt development in favor of gaining another year before arbitration. I could see a scenario where the cubs come out of the gate losing 2/3's of their games to start the season and then any outside hopes of WC2 are out of the window and then possibly leaving him down until June. Otherwise, I think his development trumps finances (at least in that regard because not breaking camp with the team is a form of financial planning) so i don't see super 2 being the dictating force

Bryant will probably hit like George Springer when he gets the call up.

Why are you guys saying Bryant won't be a .300 hitter? I'm not saying he will, but have you seen his spray chart? His pro BABiP is .408. That's in 675 ABs. He's hit .335/.434/.684/1.118 as a pro. He's hit 56 2B and 58 HR as a pro. He's got effortless double and HR power to all fields. Here's the only downside, he's struck out 212 times but he's also walked 109 times. His strike outs are due in large part to his ability to work deep counts. And, if he OPS's over 1.000, who gives a shite if he K's?

I think Bryant will sit around .280-.290 for his career and have a career year once or twice where he hits .315 or so.

His right/right center shots are a thing of beauty.

Just two.

Many of his HRs make me wonder...how did he hit it that far? Maybe it's the angle most of these MiLB ABs are shot in (behind the plate and above) that make it look so strange. The two balls he hit in NOLA (the first was a looooong foul to left, then the next pitch was the enormous HR to leftcenter) were destroyed baseballs.

Yea I don't understand everyone thinking Bryant is a .250 MLB hitter. Watching his swing and approach, he looks like a .280 hitter with 35-40 HR's.

Gallo will be a .240 guy though

How many abs of his have you personally seen there Professor ? Unless your name is an allusion towards being the Jason Parks I seriously doubt that you've paid enough attention to lol at someone else's speculation as if you're speculation is somehow more informed or correct.
He wont hit .300 out the gate but I wouldn't be surprised to see his career average hover there.
He has incredible makeup and approach and is most of all insanely dedicated to the craft of hitting.
People assume with the high HR totals that hes a free swinger and thats not the case. He's as likely to pull a ball down the line or double in the gap as he is to rocket one to right/right center and isnt the type of hitter to look down on a single.
His lack of anything resembling a slump is due to him constantly adjusting to the way hes being pitched.
The only "hole" I see in his swing is middle outside. Ive seen him blast the high outside fastball as well as the low and away cutter and slider. He turns on the inside heat pretty damn well too.
