i thought they let Parson go to have $ for Bosh?
NBA teams are allowed to go over the salary cap to re-sign their own players. Chandler Parsons was a restricted free agent meaning the Rockets would be able to match any offer he gets from another team.
Well, if the Rockets matched Dallas' offer, that would have brought them right to the cap and they would have had no room to sign Bosh.
But if they signed Bosh first, then they could also re-sign Parsons because they are allowed to go over the cap to re-sign their own players.
The Mavs' contract that they offered Parsons was not very team-friendly and so of be very difficult to trade. The Mavs did that on purpose to try to deter Houston from wanting to re-sign him. But the thinking from Houston's point of view was that if they get Bosh, it would be worth it to go all in and re-sign Parsons even with his non-flexible contract.
But once Bosh signed with Miami, it was an easy decision to let Parsons go in favor of a player with a better contract. So they signed Ariza for much cheaper.

Thank god everyday Morey didn't sign this clown to an obscene contract.

It's hard to be optimistic. Apparently all other teams had info that the knees were shot and the Grizzlies team doctors cleared him.
I have no idea how the Grizz med staff was this incompetent.

How often do we say "the third knee surgery should do the trick" and it actually work? I can't think of one. Sucks that this move basically ended any hope we had with the extensions of Marc/Mike.
The fact that Marc Gasol is back in prime form after last year's injury is a miracle.

That pic is somewhere in Houston. I recognize it. And it's driving me crazy not being able to picture where it was taken.
I think this shows that deep down you'd rather be in Dallas.

I worked down the street from that pic for a few weeks and that's why I think I recognized it. I had clients take me out several nights in uptown, and it was fun. The people who live in uptown suck though.

The second he started doing modeling shite in jeans ads while he was in houston is the same time I started to waiver on this guy. He deserves all the criticism he gets. He's just a guy who is happy to be in the NBA, but not a guy you want on your team if you're trying to go places in the standings. He's got it good anyways I guess.
That's idiotic. It's not his fault that his body keeps getting hurt. The dude was really good when he was healthy but his knee just can't take the rigors of the NBA.

Yes, Uptown sucks arse if you aren't a 50k millionaire dude bro. I didn't know that when I first moved to Dallas and as soon as my lease was up I hauled arse to Lower Greenville instead.

Such a ballsy move not to re-sign Parsons once Bosh decided to stay in Miami. He took a lot of heat for that at the time.

The grizz medical staff isn't to blame. The grizz as a franchise have to take a chance on hitting on a guy like this to be elite. Like New Orleans they will have to overpay or take big risks to get guys there via free agency. That's reality for most small market squads.

Overpaying for talent is one thing.
Overpaying for medically questionable talent is another problem than being Memphis.

Solomon hill ain't talent.
Whether injured or not talented these teams have to take risks bc they aren't FA destinations.
Mem took a risk on a player coming off injury
Pels took a risk on a player who wasn't worth a couple million to his current team and multiplied his salary times 6 based off a playoff series.
Neither has worked out so far.

Mavs signing Barnes & letting Parsons walk saved them from certain doom. Was so glad to see him go. Always thought he was bette than what he was. Kept telling the local media he wanted to take the reins from Dirk to be the "face of the franchise" . FOH

Is that amnesty clause still a thing? I wish the Griz could do that.

Lakers easily profited off that Kobe contract. That victory lap by Kobe made them a frick ton of money

Only have themselves to blame based on his history with Dallas.
