I'm just pointing out that while the umpire didn't handle it well it isn't as if Harper was innocently just stepping out of the box as has been implied.

Fans don't buy tickets to go to a game to see a star get thrown out of the game. Baseball's unwritten rules are outdated and archaic

Thats just fricking pathetic. What a terrible ejection.

Toss Williams, I get that but Harper? Really?

Im almost at the point where I would rather have the game go 9 mins on average longer then all the headache with replay and this in the box nonsense. Are we "really" shortening games enough to make a difference?

ah bullshite.

The dugout argued the balls and strikes. I mean, watch the video. Toss the manager and move on with the game. I get that part but both? Come on bro.

I did.....Harper acted like a punk to the ump by putting his toes in the batters box after he Ump told him to get back in the box... A punk move... He should have been tossed just cause hes hot right now and thinks he is above being ejected......

Never seen anyone ever getting thrown out b/c they weren't in the batters box.

That's just awful, ump needs to get the sand out of the vag. Jeez.

No.
Toss the manager for pissing on balls/strikes right there before it becomes a scene. You yap about the strike zone from the dugout you get tossed. that's the way its been now., Thats fine but to gig a the player AFTER the manager got tossed is fricking stupid and bad for the game.

Stop the madness. I hate Harper just like the next guy but seriously? Are honest baseball fans in support of this nonsense?

You can read Matt Williams' lips. He kept repeating that you can't throw a guy out for stepping out of the box. Plus Harper had a foot on the line and Hudson's mask was still off. Don't try to make this anything more than the bullshite than it is.

A toe is all that needs to be in you frickwit and the rules state that if you think the batter is slowing the game down, you add a strike to the count. You don't go and try to make it all about you.

So you have to stay in the box while the home plate umpire argues with somebody?

Shouldnt that be considered a stoppage of play and the batter can step out of the box, just like the pitcher I am sure stepped off the rubber or mound when this happened

I despise Bryce since I'm a Braves fan, and my thought on this is that is the most ridiculous thing I've seen an umpire do. And I watch a lot of baseball.

Just watched the replay on ESPN.com, and it was probably uncalled for, but Harper was sort of showing the ump up by running up and tapping his toe on the line. Almost asking for it

And what is the story behind the managers kicking dirt on to home plate? Just watched Williams do it, and is it another one of those unspoken statements in baseball, like biting your thumb?

Well Harper was tossed before Williams so there's that.

Had he tossed Williams first it probably would have been the end of it.

Well the douchebag ump was scolding him like a child to get back in the box AFTER he stopped play to argue with Williams in the dugout. Harper was in the box before that all transpired. Such horseshite. This is why I hate umps.

Just something to frick with the ump. Makes the ump bend over and dust it off

I think it's hilarious when they kick dirt on the plate. It forces the ump to brush it off. It's also funny when they kick dirt on the ump's leg. Baseball lol

Fwiw, the called strike on Harper and the called 3rd strike on A Rod to end the game were equally horrific calls. That ump is a blind douche.

Second of all, what is Harper supposed to do? Stay in the batters box while the umpire isn't paying attention and could get hurt by a pitch/foul?

I'm sorry what?

It was pretty bad. Harper is kind of a douche but unless something was said by him to the ump that isn't known I would expect the ump to be disciplined
