Appears he just doesn't like Harper

quote:

On August 18, 2013, Hudson called Harper out, ending the game, on what replays showed to be a check swing.

But seriously I had no clue you could get thrown out for just standing outside the batters box. I mean you see players step out of the box all the time to either take a practice swing or just step away and breathe real quick at all levels of baseball. I used to do that all the time in my playing days and never once had an umpire tell me anything.

frick this umpire. He seriously needs to be punished for this clown move.

New rule that you have to have a foot in. However, it doesn't say you can throw a player out for breaking the rule. You're actually supposed to add a strike to the count if he refuses to get back in the box.

Also, it looks like Harper was showing Hudson that his foot was actually in the box right before he got tossed.

and if the Ump is the reason the game comes to a grinding halt, like he was here, the player should have every right to step out of the box.

That retarded ump is completely lacking self awareness. What a joke.

Wow. That was incredible. Surely that ump will have some explaining to do.

I guess you could get thrown out for something they feel is delaying the game after they have instructed you to play ball..

But I have no idea and still don't think it was valid..

MLB Tonight had a quote from the ump that said it didn't have anything to do with the box.

The ump told him to get in the box clearly.

BH had a foot in until the ump and manager started jawing then he stepped away.

After that ump tells him to get in the box twice while BH procedes to say that he had a foot in.

Ump appears to be a world class DB.

people need to stop hating Bryce for no reason. Including umpires.

Dude is really good and plays really hard. So he talks some shite sometimes. Deal with it.

The ump is an attention whore that changed his story after the game, that much is pretty clear from an objective point of view. I'm not even a Harper fan at all and he didnt deserve that. I'd be pissed as a fan at that game.

frick attention whore refs in any sport at any level.

It's entirely possible to be a really good, hard nosed player and a total shite bag all at the same time.

First of all, it was a bad call, he got it wrong.

Second of all, what is Harper supposed to do? Stay in the batters box while the umpire isn't paying attention and could get hurt by a pitch/foul?

When they had him and West in the same umpiring crew, it just made you wish the bus would break down on the way to the game.

Henley caught Harper's bat like "easy there killer." I'd vote that man as the next President.

I guess you would have to ask the umpire for his exact reasoning, but when you look at everything that was going on it isn't as simple as listening to the homer color commentator. The dugout was arguing two strike calls on the previous batter, including the called third, then the pitch to Harper was the very next pitch.

It isn't all that difficult to fill in the gaps from there. Harper disagreed with the strike call and started yapping. The dugout had been yapping for what was now the second straight batter. Umpire loses it for a minute, warns the dugout, then tells Harper to get back in the box. Harper continues yapping and shows him up by pointing to the box as if to say "what, that box?" then tip toeing up to it. Umpire runs him.

He lost his cool and shouldn't have, but it didn't appear to be as simple as "he stepped out of the box and was ejected because he's Bryce Harper".

Likely had more to do with showing up the umpire with the body language after the call. Still bullshite, rabbit ears by Blue. No one came to see you.
