Browns have 11 more picks. They want 4-6 more. Going for most picks ever?

#Browns have 11 picks total, today and tomorrow. I'm told they want to acquire at least 4-6 more. … What's the record for most picks ever?

Apparently there is lots of interest in pick 32 and they will almost certainly trade it.

Why stop there?

Just double that 11 and have a completely new offense and defense next year

With how much of the draft is a lottery it isn't the worst idea in the world to just scatter picks all over the place.

It definitely is not.

This is the MLB/Moneyball management taking over.

I like it for the Browns.

This is a pretty deep and talented draft. Makes sense for the Browns to get the most players, better chance they hit on a bunch.

Shotgun approach. Probably the best idea for the Browns since they cant make a decent pick. Just throw out a big net and hope to catch something worth keeping.

Saints should look into this...

Can't be any worse than since the team returned. New management, new strategy. I like it. Seems like they intend on doing a complete roster overhaul.

Ya they need a lot of help too.

Knowing the Browns, they'll somehow hit way more picks than they statistically should, have problems resigning all of them, and the ones they do resign will have serious career ending injuries.

They need all the help they can get if you think about it.

I saw the movie, Kevin Costner knows what he's doing on draft day

yea it's cool to see moneyball; they could own the 5th-7th rounds. Kind of like being in eternal prospect phase of a baseball team.

As a Browns fan, I finally have faith in this regime. With that said, I am getting a bit concerned about the constant trade downs for 2 reasons.

1. There are only so many players on a roster. Have to think that a decent amount of these guys won't make it past final cuts.

2. If they draft an outsize amount of players in 1 year, they will likely all come to free agency at the same time, outside of the 1st round pick.

I love it. This is precisely how I won the 2019 Superbowl with the Browns on Madden 16. Build assets and you're entire team, and when you're as far away as the Browns are, this is how you do it.

I'm really intrigued by the strategy and if it works it may change the conventional wisdom in the NFL. 5 years ago the Browns would have drafted a QB again. Now they're going to build their team until they're legitimately only a QB away.

No biggie. They'll have a ton of cap space as a result. They saved like $5MM per year by going from 2 to 16.

Your second point is a good one though, but I still like the spray and pray approach. The best scouts in the country miss on players all the time. The best way to offset the randomness of the draft is to maximize your chances to get 4 or 5 right.

Did the Browns hire Sam Hinkie?

The Browns need the Bengals, Ravens and Steelers to all get bad or else they will continue to get an automatic 6 losses every year.

Pats also had 11 last year...

And 12 in 2009 and 2010.

They have had a history of trading down to stockpile picks.
