You are right. I think it's a legit issue that the team didn't act properly to protect the kid.

But, the Trey Anastasio's of the world are really just trying to get him fired.

Hoke didn't attempt to put the kid in danger. In a different settings (if they were winning) this would be explained away and Michigan fans would get over it.

But, Michigan fans are out for blood. That's really what is going on here.

Just another example of incompetence from the staff. Then, on top of it, the head coach acknowledges his own lack of on the field awareness to what is happening to his own quarterback.
It is just another clear sign the guy is way over his head.

Without getting into Michigan's season and whether or not Hoke is a good coach.. that kid was walking in potholes there. A ref would have waved it off it was a boxing match.

You owe it to your team and your university to get him off the field at that point.

Hoke is a bad coach, but he wouldn't put a player back in the game who wasn't "approved" by the medical staff.

When I was a trainer there were coaches sometimes you had to fight with just to keep a player off the field. Considering how hot Hoke's seat was beforehand, I wouldn't be so naive to think he wouldn't.

I just think he is a really, really dumb/clueless guy. Same way JoePa thought he was OK just going up the chain of command, though at least JoePa had the excluse of getting old for his gross negligence.

This is my take on it. Maybe Hoke didn't know he had a concussion, but he didn't try to find out. He turned a blind eye. He was already out there on a gimpy leg and Hoke had to see that hit and how wobbly he was after. Hoke just didn't give a shite because he was putting his job security before the player's safety. When the QB didn't immediately walk off the field, Hoke rolled with it and later played the "he's a fighter and he wanted to be in there" card.

It was an ankle injury not a concussion. Damn watch the whole series. He waved off trainers and Hoke before he got hit. He got right up after the hit also.

Not sure if serious.

Nah, he rolls onto his stomach and grabs his head before lying there for a while.

After getting hit like he did, you take him out and look at him anyway. There is a damn good chance he is concussed and at that point, his opinion is no matter valid. Lots of guys will try to stay out there and play through an injury when they shouldn't. It is the coaches responsibility to recognize when a player is too hurt to play.

Agreed. Even if Morris was eventually cleared to continue playing, it was risky to assume he wasn't concussed given his reaction right after the hit.

By the way, has the B1G said if they will punish the Minnesota kid?

They can't because "it wasn't originally called targeting during the game"

Well, that is stupid.

Hoke should be let go, in my limited watching of Michigan it is hard to see where there is anything that is getting better.

Michigan should be the class of the B10 every year, and I just don't see Hoke changing the direction of the program. I would love to see a Harbaugh, tough nosed grind em down guy go in there and just beat the hell out of OSU.

No. I'm just saying the medical staff should have told the coaching staff he is OUT for the rest of the game. They have the power to not clear a player. If they do clear a player, why shouldn't the coaching staff trust the medical professionals?

If the kid had a bone sticking out of his arm would you fault the coach even if the Drs didn't bench him?

The starting qb just got carried off the field about 45 seconds prior. There's no excuse for not being aware of that happening and for not realizing a concussion test takes longer than a minute.

It wasn't a concussion they were looking at him for

How can people not understand this. I guarantee that the ATC would not have let him near the field if a concussion was even suspected.

This doesn't matter, numbnuts. He could have easily used his fricking eyes, seen his team was down 30-7, the QB was already on a hobbled ankle, he was already struggling before that, proceeds to gets his clock cleaned on a dirty hit, struggles to get up and then wobbles over like a drunk leaving the bar to get the play (A frickING PASS PLAY) and taken it on himself to pull the kid.

He either doesn't give a shite about his players (see: Ball State frostbite incident) or is grossly incompetent. Regardless, his arse should be unemployed right now and he will be sooner than later.

And that's kind of my point- the docs messed up but how do you excuse a head coach for missing the situation entirely? It was a major hit on his starting qb who could barely walk. That he was unaware that his head needed to get checked is a huge issue.
I don't expect a HC to make the diagnosis but he is very responsible there to realize the kid needed to be checked and wasn't checked. It wasn't a guy that was away from the play hidden in the crowd with a quick minor stumble- it was his qb tripping over himself after a major flagged hit.

"Not my job" doesn't cut it there
