The final candidates for inclusion in the Big 12. Not that great of a list really, but pretty much all schools mentioned previously.

northern illinois

Sources also said it's "becoming less and less likely" that the league will expand to 14 teams. The most likely scenario is that the Big 12 will stay at 10 teams or only add two schools for a 12-team league with two six-team divisions, sources said.

so it's looking like houston. and then either byu, cincy, or maybe colorado state

A few of those schools would make the Big12 become CUSA 2.0

I'm calling BS...absolutely no way they don't include the flagship that is ULL in their list

don't they know what they are missing out on by not at least involving them?! When's the last time a BIG12 team won a NOLA bowl?!?!....YEAH THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT BAW!

Thinking you are going to bring in NIU and Houston so that you can "own" their television markets is asinine.

Maybe they can go after San Jose State too so that they can take the Bay Area market away from the Pac 12.

Just add BYU. Forget the rest.

If I were in the Big 12, my top 4 would be:

- UConn (for basketball)

- Houston (for football, assuming Herman stays)

- either USF or UCF (for football, I have no idea what happened to UCF last year)

-Cincinati (decent football and basketball programs)

And at the end of the day they won't be able to agree on anything and nothing will change.

They should be focused on expelling Baylor but we know that won't happen either.

15 teams listed there. Who are the other two mystery teams? P5 programs looking to bounce? Arizona schools?

You ride that pony for Herman alone the conference is going to be left holding the bag when ups and leaves.

Cinci and one of the Flordia schools make sense dollars wise for good sports teams and a new market but I'm not sure how they would fit in the Big 10. Cincy seems like a no brainer though for football and basketball purposes.

I totally agree. Although, I think being in the Big 12 might compell him to stay at Houston? Regardless, it is a risky move for the Big 12.

Ha, good catch. Didn't count the teams, just read the article. It does say "among the teams", so you may be on to something...

Then again...maybe ULL is one of the 17 and not important enough to list...

I've heard Arkansas people in the past say that they wouldn't mind going back. Maybe they can talk Mizzou into going back with them.

That would be a funny scenario. Arkansas and Missouri go back, and then the SEC retaliates by taking Oklahoma and Oklahoma State and they're right back where they started from.

I don't think Big 12 has the same allure. OU and OSU want out which would kill the conference. Herman isn't staying if Texas or A&M open up.

I think getting in the Big12 would certainly help Hermann stay because they'd then get that P5 money and would be able to afford him, assistants and continual upgrades to faculties. I wonder if the B12 railroads them into host all of the big games like Texas and Oklahoma at NRG instead of on campus. And would UH cave to that just to get in?
