Getting more support is easier said than done. It's hard to get people to buy into Tulane football, considering how terrible we've been on the field and how we are irrelevant locally. The piss pour athletics are really the only thing holding us back, we have the location and academics also helps us. (Although those aren't as good as they used to be, but they're good enough).

The leadership at Tulane is much better now under Fitts and Dannen. They give us the best chance at getting in the Big XII, the best case scenario for us is the expansion keeps getting pushed back.

TCU had Tulane-like support until Dennis Franchione and LaDanian Tomlinson started turning things around. Tulane should have already been there but instead of following 12-0 and Bowden with Rich Rodriguez, we hired SCELFO...disaster. The Big XII sees the potential.

Most people believed this would never happen from anybody at Ohio State. Honestly, this move is smart because what it potentially does is weaken Notre Dame, Michigan and Michigan St....especially Notre Dame! Cincinnati has a huge catholic population and follows Notre Dame very closely.

If this weakens Michigan, Michigan State, and Notre Dame it weakens Ohio State since Ohio State recruits against those three schools for Ohio talent and can always tells recruits that Cincinnati is not a power program. Now Ohio State has to recruit against Cincinnati as well as UM, MSU, and ND if UC joins the big 12.

The idea that this hurts Notre Dame is laughable. So you're telling me that a recruit from Moeller High who is considering ND is now going to considering Cincinnati if if joins the big 12?

Tulane ain't happening. Louisiana Tech gets in before Tulane. Word is the Louisiana Tech meeting was by far the best meeting and Tulane was average at best.

Break my fingers this is so painful.

Any Terry Bradshaw guided strip club outing bankrolled by the Davisons beats the hell out of a bunch of PhDs coming talk to you about academics. I think that goes without saying.

If just 2, Houston and Cincy because they're the easiest, readiest, and most obvious choices.

If 4, BYU, despite some of the residual difficulties, is the clear No. 3. So it comes down to No. 4, and UConn and Memphis have been the most mentioned choices. UConn brings the national championship pedigree in basketball and a link to the NYC market, I guess. Memphis is solid at basketball and has better upside in football. Which is the better add?

UConn's geography is what will keep them out. Cincy is far but closer to WVU. Big XII wants to gain a foothold in SEC country since the SEC has done that with A&M and Mizzou. Therefore it is Memphis or Tulane for the 4th spot.

FedEx has made a concerted effort to buy Memphis into the Big 12. They've offered to sponsor the Big 12 Championship.
