Better career: Lynch or Johnson

This morning, on Mike and Mike, they were debating over who had the better career. Johnson had the greater stats and more individual accomplishments. But Lynch was a bigger star and had more success (going to 2 Super Bowls and winning one). They came into the league at the same time. Which career would you take?

I hate how championships matter when comparing individual success..especially in football

Johnson was considered the best wr in the league almost every year he played. Lynch was considered the best rb in the league, never.

The whole point of the game is to win. They both seem like good guys. I'm just asking, if you were to pick a career, whose career would rather have?

Lynch's run against the saints will still be replayed after people have forgotten about Johnson.

No one's forgetting Megatron.

This is how I feel. Johnson set the single season yards mark and was the best WR for a 5 year period or so. Lynch was never known as the best rb in the league (he was probably in the 3-5 range for a 5 year span)

That cameo on the League in the Yeast Mode episode catapulted Lynch to superstardom.

Both were just really good players for a few seasons. Nothing more and nothing less.

I get it in the QB argument, but definitely not for RB or WR, especially these days.

The only people in football who should be judged by championships and team success are coaches, front office executives and owners period. It's beyond ridiculous how everybody touts football as the ultimate team game and then say so and so QB is better than another QB because they have more championship rings. Most people are smart enough to know Barry Sanders was a better player than Emmitt Smith. They realize Emmitt had better team and postseason success because he had a better team around him. So why can't they apply the same logic to other positions like QB?

Because your average person is pretty stupid. Then, half of the people in this country are even more stupid than the average person.

IMO there's a difference between using championships to determine who had a better career vs using them to determine who was a better player. I think most would agree they would rather have the career that included a championship, but said championship doesn't mean they are automatically a better player
To use an overused comparison, most would say they would rather have the accomplishments of Trent Dilfer over Dan Marino since he was able to win the championship that Marino never did, but nobody in their right mind would argue that made Trent Dilfer a better player

Megatron was the best WR for 3 straight years - 2011-2013. Injuries prevented him from further dominance and his seasons before that stretch showed flashes of brilliance but lacked much consistency.
Lynch had a 3 year stretch from 2012-2014 where he was the second most consistent RB in the NFL, the best being AD. I can't really knock Lynch for being the 2nd best RB in the NFL when the #1 guy is a Top 5 RB of all time.
All in all, Johnson was the better player but I'm sure he'd swap careers with Lynch in a heartbeat.
