Wonder where Ricky Williams would fit in this discussion had he not left the game in his prime

He is trying to use TD's as saying that Sanders was the better back. But he does not take into account how bad the Lions Offense and team was and the rules changes to enable the offense. Also the styles of offense were completely different. The Run and Shoot is going to have more TD than the I in pro ball. Especially when you do not have any WR's that are Pro Bowl selections, I guess that doesn't matter either?

Other than the obvious answers, Terrell Davis could have been a top 5 of all time

Its hard to tell if he was a system rb or not.

Thats why I consider Edge to be the best rb ever.If you want to talk about the best ever at one single aspect that easily goes to Dickerson

The issue with Davis is two things...
He was somewhat short in his career.
The offense produced multiple 1000 yd rushers after him, with a downgrade in QB.
I do not think he or Warner should be in the Pro Football HoF, but just a personal opinion.

I understand what he's doing. His initial opinion that Sims' stats weren't close to Sanders' stats has been shot to shite so he has to hang his hat on something.
Durability should be included IMO.
In every sport there are great players for short periods that aren't anywhere close to GOAT lists.

It's amazing how much people forget. The Lions were not a terrible team when Barry played. And it wasn't just because of Barry. Hell they beat Dallas like a drum in the 1991 playoffs. They had a great offense with 3 great WRs and their offensive line was legit. Sanders had better than average lines for a good part of his career, very good a couple seasons when the Lions twice had a top 5 ranked offense. Not only did he have all-pro Lomas Brown, but also he had Kevin Glover at center. That's two perennial Pro Bowl caliber linemen. I'd also include solid guys like Fralic (also a Pro Bowler), Lutz, Tharpe and Eric Sanders. The big myth is that he always had 'atrocious', 'horrible' o-lines. It makes it easier to inflate Sanders as a rb; something he doesn't need. It's disrespectful to his linemen, two of which were among the best of their time, and to the game itself.
Emmitt Smith gets less credit for having a good offensive line. An offensive line, mind you, that almost got Aikman killed in 1989 and allowed 12 sacks on thanksgiving against the Eagles in 90. Yet, Jim Brown played behind three linemen who became HOF'ers, Lou Groza, Mike McCormack and Gene Hickerson. Two others who fell just short of that level were Jim Ray Smith and Dick Schafrath. Both had multiple pro-bowl and first-team all-pro selections. Other notables were John Morrow, John Wooten and even Chuck Noll. But who knows or remembers Jim Browns line?
Emmitt's success had little to do with the team he played for. It was the other way around. He was National High School Player of the Year in 1986. His teams won two state championships. None of the players on that team made an NFL roster except for Emmitt.
No question, Barry had more break-away ability than Emmitt. But Emmitt was the better back. He never had to be taken out of the game like Barry did. Barry would take a team's breath away; Emmitt would destroy a team's will.

I understand your point but as I was pointing out if Sims wouldn't have been hurt we may talk about him like we do others. I never said Sanders wasn't great, but I think Sims was a better RB when both were healthy.
You wouldn't go wrong taking either of them though.
