If there's evidence completely clearing his name from knowing about any of this (I'm not sure how that could be) then a legit argument could be made.
But if Art Briles was part of the clan that covered these accusations up and even made threats of retaliation against the victims, not only should he never coach again in college football, he should also be charged and thrown in jail for covering up rape.

Unless there's a tape of him calling out rape and threatening to kick people of the team or something I don't see what the hell could clear him.

Probably, but I'd rather weather a little temporary bad press if it meant keeping a great coach for years.
Screw a coach and the donors-- they'd basically be daring the Federal Government to go Nuclear-- I know they're a private school but losing access for Federal Student Loan Dollars would be a body blow that donations and Football Money come no where near covering.

Why would he even want to go back? If there was evidence exonerating him why wouldn't he tell them to shove it and go get a better job?

Lot of chatter on message board but I can't see it happening. Supposedly the report has the issues in Starr and McCaws groups but didn't call out Briles. Who knows but the shite storm will be epic if he is brought back.

looks like there is more smoke to this. its now breaking everywhere that the BOR are voting today. just listened to a college football show and they had a Waco newspaper beatwriter on and he said that word is they have the votes to reinstate Briles. looks like this is happening
wow, so money and winning controls all, even for a baptist university

Lol, there is no way. If they reinstated him, ESPN would have someone in Waco until he gets run out again. I hope they do it, though. The circus would be amazing to watch.

Evidence clearing his name that he presided over a locker room full of rapists?

Yeah, who cares that he knowingly recruited players with violent histories (some of which he was warned about by other teams) and at best turned a blind and kept him self willfully ignorant of his teams rape culture. As long as we win some football games at all water under the bridge.
You are pathetic.
And frick you.

*for the record i hope to hell hes not reinstated and wish Baylor all the worst, however im just the messenger.
the reporter said that its now evident the pepper hamilton report is sealed and will NEVER be made public, so Briles name is safe and everything thats out there cant be proved. he basically said Baylor is putting money and winning first right now and cant take this hit of being bottom dwellers again.
they are going to pay off the victims and nothing more will ever come of this.
very sad. i will now root against them in every game they play

He wouldn't be great any longer. Most recruit families would not allow their kids to attend Baylor.

I don't think the Baylor fan bases Penn State delusional. Penn State was built up over 30 years of head in the sand with absolutely zero sunshine in that hick town.
But it appears the Baylor is controlled by a few huge donors, more so than most other places, which creates its own set of risks. Those guys want ROI. The IRS has stayed away from these athletics foundations and something like this could bring them in.
Some of the big dogs and other schools funds need to have a talk with these Baylor guys and tell them to stand down. Justifying the foundations as real 501(c)(3)s is a stretch as it is.

How does Art win over parents and recruits after all of this? Hope they suck

Briles could be back next season

Funding by boosters was threatened to be cut significantly. He's coming back.
