What's the next level past douche? Because he just crossed it.

Q: How's that coming, Arian, your progress with being a better teammate?
Foster: Yeah, you know, I'm just, every single day, just trying to be a better teammate, man.

Appropriate for the vacuousness and unimportance that is sports "journalism." Does it really matter what he says? Who gives a shite about what it was like working at his brother's facility?

As a member of the media why are you applauding this?

It's part of his job. He should act professionally.
Instead of being a douche, he could have just said he wasn't going to get into any specifics about the injury.
who you blame for these exchanges depends entirely on your bias to begin with IMO. BB obviously does this every single press conference since forever and because he's highly successful people accept it

He already went past it getting played by that skank baby mama after peddling his fake intellectual strong father role model schtick.

I don't mind stuff like this. The media has such an inflated sense of self worth, I like seeing them getting all in a huff when someone goes against the grain.
I agree with this. I was listening to an interview with a reporter the other day. He was talking about how Nick Foles denied him an opportunity for an interview and how it "pissed him off". What does Nick Foles owe this guy? What do any athletes owe reporters? Nothing, as far as I can tell

If I were to personify sports media, it would be that bitchy little 9 year old from elementary school that throws a tantrum every time something doesn't go their way
They are butthurt enough to intentionally discredit great players that didn't play nice with the media and deny them their spot in the hall of fame

that was legit

He wasn't trolling the media.
He was trolling his coach who has laid down Belichickian rules for how his players should handle the media.
Every single damn live interview, by anyone on that team, devolves in "I'm just trying to be the best teammate I can", "team, team, team, team, etc..." Even the studio interviews on local radio turn into "team, team, team...."
They are boring as shite...intentionally. Foster just took it to an extreme, and most likely b/c he used to always have shite to say to the media. BOB has shut that shite down!
And I have no problem with it. O'Briens rules or Fosters response. The media does act a bit entitled these days under the guise of "just doing my job".

Well to be fair, the media was playing along too.
at the end of the interview, one of the reporters makes a comment as to say "that was impressive"
Almost Pop-esq, except Pop would have answered with 1-2 words per question or just simply laughed and made the reporter feel like an idiot

I think most people haven't put themselves in the shoes of the athlete. Imagine yourself in the middle of a constant stream of attention which ranges from wild speculation to personal character assassination. Very few of us could stand up to that kind of scrutiny.

They are fairly compensated.
Posted on 7/30/14 at 4:35 pm to jimithing11
A few of those questions they started trolling him
Posted on 7/30/14 at 4:37 pm to boom roasted
that's an excuse for not understanding their point of view. no matter what your job or your compensation you won't like the bad or unfair parts of the gig.
and their job is the contract they sign with a football team. that requires them to be present for some media obligations but (as BB demonstrates) doesn't control what type of interaction they choose to have.
the respected professionals (a peyton manning for example) often get a pass when it comes to their flaws whereas someone who isn't as well liked can have a very rough time with the media

I bet he laid in bed last night cracking himself up - "I'm gonna get them so good."

I understand that doing media is one of the worst parts of the job, but I don't feel sorry for them.

That's worse

you don't have to feel sorry for anyone but IMO it is funny when they treat the media like they are treated.
most of the questions they ask are stupid, redundant, or no-win if you answer them. answering them like he did today actually gave them a story to run with... so long as you forget other (better liked) coaches and athletes do exactly the same thing
