Red Sox fan friend of mine is ranting non-stop. He wants the umpire investigated for fraud / mafia payments.

Evidently he is unable to see the obvious.

He said that?

What a retard, his head was 5 feet inside the baseline because he was lying down, but his feet certainly werent 5 feet inside the baseline.

Yeah pretty much exactly what he said. He's an idiot. As the umpires made clear as well, the runner establishes his own base path too, so whether he was 5 feet inside the chalk or not is not important. The Sox will look at it again and see it was the right call.

This is turning into..."Did Dottie drop the ball on purpose?"

Some people are just hung up on intent.

It would have been a total travesty if the call wasn't made and Cards fans would have burned down the umps and Middlebrooks' home.

Compared with the the call being made...and even if you disagree - it's a minor disagreement and an iffy call at best to a few retards.

So, the call may displease a few people but not calling that would have been a far far far bigger outrage.

Right call was made.

Craig certainly seemed to step on him on purpose to get the call. All in all it was a heads up play by Craig, because it was definitely interference regardless of if he tried to interfere or not

they even have a picture of the umpire looking away from the play, but of course they forgot to see he turned his head back.

I could only take about 20 seconds of that FB page

i mean, i get not knowing the rule entirely, I sure didn't. But I can't stand when people pound their fist in anger when they simply aren't knowledgeable about what they're talking about. It really grinds my gears.

The internet is a great platform for people who have no idea what they are talking about to show how dumb they are.

This is the problem. The baserunner defines the baseline, not the foul lines. Once he touches third, he could run to the mound and then home as long as he's not attempting to avoid a tag.

.

No he is not. Baseline is 3 feet on either side of the white line (imaginary line between 2nd and 3rd). A runner can not run outside of that area to allude a tag or get an obstruction.

Peavey actually attacked the homeplate umpire.

quote:

Boston starter Jake Peavy says he doesn't see how anyone agrees with that call “other than Cardinal fans.”

The excitable Peavy pitched only OK but came with the colorful quotes. Speaking of home-plate umpire DeMuth, Peavy said, “He's already proved he can't see things right. I hope he rests well in his hotel rom.”

It isn't sure if Peavy was talking about his own four innings in his eagerly awaited first World Series game ever, or what. It's only sure Peavy wasn't pleased.

“That's a joke, that's an absolute joke,” Peavy said.
