League will be fricked after the Rockets trade for Rudy Gay or Zach Randolph. Lebron is lucky there was a season last year because he isn't winning another ring.
I hope this is a joke.

James Harden is a very underrated and under appreciated player. Hes the 6th man of the year, an all star, and an olympian.

Those 2 sentences really don't belong together since they kinda contradict each other

He's quite good in a pick and roll system with a dynamic PF and no 2 or 3 that carries the load.

Unfortunately this is the exact opposite of what Houston has now.

well they run a pick and roll system, so that benefits lin and harden

they have a lot of potential at the 4, but nothing concrete right now. if montejunas develops, then he's perfect for lin/harden

$8M/year is like half of a max contract

I love how people keep bringing up the money arguement. 4.5 million is ALOT of money.

OKC could only offer him a 4 year deal worth 60 million. Houston is able to offer 5 years at 80 million.

Also the OKC gave him one hour to take the deal. That's a slap in the face of one the key players that helped you win the west.

Cmon, man. A lot of players Per 36 looks good. And we are talking 526 and 715 minutes out of 1,946. It's not hard to cherry pick stats to make a player look good.

Harden is a good player, but I think the Joe Johnson comparison is spot on. The Rockets really need to hit on whoever they bring in on the max deal, or else the will be in a bad spot. Lin and Harden aren't going to be who people think they are.

yup..and the only time Harden is on the court w/o Durant and Westbrook is when he's running with and against the second units.

Just adding to the other poster's numbers for what Harden did with those two off the floor. Obviously there are major flaws with those numbers as I noted but it is interesting just how good he was, and it was over two seasons.

Rockets Backcourt will challenge for assist lead. Both very unselfish players.

Harden is coachable enough to not jack the ball up 25 times a game, he'll get his teammates involved.

I say 23 PPG is a good number for him.

I agree as a Houston fan I am worried about his role as the go-to guy, and I had this doubt before he came to Houston. Houston can afford to screw up because there isn't anything at stake and hopefully we don't get tied into a terrible contract.

that's not always the case..Its not like teams sub in 5 new players every time the other team brings their players off the bench

I like Harden. Damn, people are underrating him in this thread, calling him a role player....Why, because he has been a 6th man?

because he played at AZ St and you never heard of him in college?

I think he more than proved himself as someone that can play on his own.

I think joe johnson is a solid comparison... And i know people hate Johnson's contract but he got paid that big deal in his late 20's. Harden is 22 or 23 and this deal is almost fool proof. I know as a Hornets fan id surely take him for that money.

He can score, hes a good passer, he's played in big games...He's proven he can lead teams both in college and NBA

If I was a team that already had an established franchise player, I would love to bring in Harden as part of a "big two" or "big three". But I wouldn't give him a max contract and build my team around him.

Btw OKC got Kevin Martin who is a solid swingman and can also create somewhat off the dribble. Plus TWO first round picks. Is there even any debate that OKC got the better of the deal?
Kevin Martin is not that good. He scores his points, but that is about all he does. It doesn't help the team like you might think. That is why he can average like 20 points a game and he's not even close to being considered a star-type player.

Houston has been looking to let him go for a while now.

And the chances of landing a Harden-type player with the Toronto and Dallas picks are very low. OKC may pick up some okay talent, but it is still risky.

Jeremy Lamb may or may not turn out to be good. He was kind of "meh" in preseason.

OKC is taking a lot of risk while Houston is getting a proven player who is only 23 years old.

So yeah, OKC may have got more "things" in the trade (Martin, Lamb, draft picks), but they took a lot of risk, and Houston knows what they are getting. I'd say Houston came out just fine in the deal.

You think the Rockets are done building with just Harden?

The Rockets are loaded with assets. They aren't done. Next year they will be looking to land that big-time superstar.

If Houston lands that superstar next year with Lin, Harden and all of the rest of the young talent they have on their roster, they will be GOOD.
