You unequivocally said AD isnt good enough to go down as one of the all timer bigs....thats idiotic.

He may het derailed by injuries or drugs or get kidnapped by aliens preventing it from coming to fruition.

But if he has a 10 year career comprised of seasons like he had this year...he is in the goat discussion....that is to say if he doesnt get better....which he will.

ADs skillset is so much greater than Dwights.

The MVP is a weird award. Kobe and Shaq combined for two. It's very possible that Davis could finish as an all-time great without winning two MVPs.

A lot of that probably had to do with them stealing each other's credit during their prime years. Neither of them had the PERs that AD did. There's a pretty good correlation between MVP and PERs even though it seems like a weird award.

Actually the better correlation is win shares. This year will be no different.

I would have no problem with Curry winning the MVP. I don't think he is more deserving than Harden but he has had an MVP season.

I'd bet on over, but I also think the MVP in today's league means something different than say 20 years ago, because Curry is not an elite defender, yet he's still considered the MVP.

There's been so many players have great rookie or 2nd/3rd years in the NBA and tapper off.

Perhaps, but no one has had the career arc that Davis has had thus far.

Take David Robinson, a player with a similar game to AD. Robinson put up a PER of 30.7 in 1993-1994. His per 36 numbers were 26.5 pts on 50.7% shooting, 9.5 reb, 4.2 ast, 2.9 blks, 1.5 stl, and 2.8 tov. AD just recorded a 30.8 PER with per 36 numbers of 24.3 pts on 53.5% shooting, 10.2 reb, 2.2 ast, 2.9 blks, 1.5 stl, and 1.4 tov.

Robinson put those numbers up at 28 years old and in his 5th season in the league.

At 22 years old, in only his 3rd NBA season, you could argue that Anthony Davis just matched the best season of David Robinson's career.

Davis' offensive game is already way ahead of anything Dwight has ever had. I wouldn't be surprised to see him add a three to his game. I'd say that's very likely. He's already deadly from mid range.

Kinda the way Dwight didn't peak at age 24?
At the risk of repeating myself 3 times now, this is not a fair comparison. Dwight was good, really really good. AD is on a different level of good. Those guys never taper off. He may, but it would be moreso unprecedented than normal like you're claiming.

AD's skillset is so far ahead of Dwight's.

I would want to say more, but we have all-time great get less than two before, such as Shaq or Kobe. The two of them (plus Duncan who won two) were more or less the best players in the game for a decade.

I would think Davis becomes the best player in the league in the not too distant future. I would expect he would win two MVP's, but there is no way to tell. He is already a top seven player at absolute worst (LBJ, Durant, Westbrook, Curry, Harden, CP3).

If I was in the Pelicans front office, my entire life would be consumed getting Davis to sign a lifetime contract. I would start a team with him over any other player in the NBA, and it is not even close.

I know you're hoping and praying AD can't hit that magical 70 game mark you mentioned, cause that won't help your argument if he does.

In that case, you have to like AD's chances going forward. He was 4th in the league this year with 14.0 win shares, and his win shares per 48 minutes were second. In fact, his win shares per 48 minutes were higher than any season in Tim Duncan or Kobe Bryant's career. Shaq only posted one season with a higher win share per 48.

I'm confident that the only thing stopping AD from winning multiple MVPs in the next 7 seasons is his health. That is it.

Is Boom in here hating on AD?

Boom would swap Harden for AD so fast it would make everyone's head F'ing explode.

So would Morey. And every other GM for that matter.

It's gonna be tough. Curry, Durant, Westbrook, LBJ aren't going anywhere
