If you and PEEJ think he will be a bust, he will be a hall of famer.

Congrats Jadeveon.

Comparing a few Gamecock fans offering our stance on Clowney and how he will do in Houston should not be compared to some FSU fan sticking up for a player that at the time was under investigation for rape.

Lighten up bro. I was talking about how fervently you douches white knight not comparing the character issues that either may or may not have.

Someone claimed he had character issues, Me and a fellow Gamecock fan asked if they could provide any examples, besides the two speeding tickets. (Clearly no one can, just can't admit they were wrong to have said that)
And I don't think we're "white knighting", again, as USC fans, we watch Clowney every saturday and we're offering up what we know to the discussion of him possibly going to Houston.

Yeah but most of ill will stems from stuff "unnamed NFL execs" have said and the media runs with, which tells me a) the statements are BS or B) they're just smokescreens and the media is just playing along like they always do.

Well at least one person in this thread understands what's going on. This is nothing more than Houston using the media to put out a "#1 pick For Sale" sign. There is no incentive for Houston to tell Clowney that he's going to be the first pick right now. It's not like any other team can jump ahead of them. They are trying to "convince" the other teams behind them that they are 100% going to take Clowney in order to see just how big a trade offer they can get for the pick. No harm in seeing if they can't get a king's ransom from someone.

90% of what comes out of NFL front offices at this time of year is nothing but lies and bluffs.

FWIW, I think Clowney will be a great pro. I would take him #1 without hesitation. I don't think he has any "character issues."

If the Texans take Clowney and Mettenberger with their top two picks it will be scary.

Clowney or Robinson would be a better pick for Houston than any QB. This draft has lots of servicable QBs in later rounds and the "top" QBs really are not that much better than the 2nd tier guys.

Totally agree. Is JFF or Bortles that much better than AJ that you can afford to essentially give away what legitimately might become one of the greatest pass rushers in NFL history? Clowney is to DE's what Luck was to QB's. A sure thing. To me, JFF and Bortles are just as much of unknowns as AJ is.

Smart move. Clowney is in a different tier from the rest of the Draft class.

it's rumored the reason is because the Texans have informed him they will be taking him #1 overall.

Sounds like someone taking a guess to get some attention.

It's more likely that Clowney and his agent determined that his floor is top 3 overall and getting injured would be more detrimental than the benefit of doing private workouts.

Although I will say that reports have come out that many of the top teams with QB needs are considering taking other players and grabbing a QB with a later pick.

The Texans, Jaguars, Browns and Raiders are all "strongly considering" passing on a quarterback in Round 1 and waiting until Round 2 to address that need.

Calm down dude. MULTIPLE people have said the same thing about Clowney. It's not like he just pulled it out of his arse. Just today an article came out from an exec saying the exact same thing.

That's not saying he's not an incredible talent. Arguably his only weakness is his motor and work ethic. Physically he's what you how you would design a HOF DE in a science lab, and at times he's been the most dominant player in CFB.

It is, however, inarguable that he's gotten frustrated and given up on plays when teams have double teamed him. Plenty of other guys have. It's not a death sentence, but let's not try to make someone saying he's lazy sound like an absurd comment.
