LINK

He has informed that he will no longer be working out for teams pre-draft and it's rumored the reason is because the Texans have informed him they will be taking him #1 overall.

That defensive line is going to be sick. JJ Watt is salivating.

Looks like they are going the Mario Williams route again.

But there is no Reggie Bush in this draft, and Clowney has serious character and motivation issues.

So it's not like that at all.

Always thought that was the right pick anyways, but yes that pass rush will be non-stop in your face.

If true, best route to go IMO.

So you've bought into the made up gossip by the media?

Game tape. But he can't get double teamed against Houston as much because they have Watt et al.

Yeah but most of ill will stems from stuff "unnamed NFL execs" have said and the media runs with, which tells me a) the statements are BS or B) they're just smokescreens and the media is just playing along like they always do.

I don't think Spurrier did him any favors either.

Yep. He was mad that Clowney made a business decision last season.

He has all the upside in the world. I still think he'll be a bust because of his work ethic.

Spurrier was just butt-hurt because Clonwney owned him and he knew he couldn't control him; USCe needed Clowney more than he needed the school.

What character issues? He never got in trouble with the law, always has a big smile on his face, and he wasn't the only one to take a game off or 2 for injuries. Spurrier was also surprised and called out RB Brandon Wilds and WR Bruce Ellington, but for some reason no one ever heard about that.

ESPN created the Clowney phenomenon and then destroyed it and tried to build it back up post pro-day, all of which puts eye balls on the TV.

Clowney or Robinson would be a better pick for Houston than any QB. This draft has lots of servicable QBs in later rounds and the "top" QBs really are not that much better than the 2nd tier guys. I hope the Texans take one out the Seahawks playbook and build the defense to be nasty, then have a servicable QB to fit their offensive scheme.

ETA: If/when Clowney does officially become a Texan, I have a feeling JJ Watt will take him under his wing and teach him how to be a real pro. It would be a great fit for Clowney and Houston.

Not just JJ Watt, but that entire D is salivating. Getting Clowney immediately improves that D so much. And its the best spot for him to go and be successful because teams cant double he and Watt at the same time. He will be the #2 DL behind Watt and wont see the other teams best OL.

It frees up so much for Houston.
