So do I.

I just look at it through more of an old school lens. Metrics have their place and are helpful and some are great indicators of how good a player is, I'm a big fan of OPS+ and OPS, but they are not the end-all-be-all like a lot of younger fans claim they are.

I used to choose him on one of the MLB games on Sega for Home Run Derby.

I’d say easily Manny

So your best support is a completely subjective measure? And it’s funny how logically flawed so many are in this thread. This isn’t about which one is better, it’s about whether or not you believe Trout is a first ballot, and comparing his career to Belles to determine if he should be in at all. Belle has a great point based on his gross batting stats.

The Hall of Fame is about being the best in your era. A guy that makes 11/12 years as an All Star is dominating his era far more than a guy that makes 5/12. And gross numbers aren’t equal weighted bc they have to be judged in the era they played in.

Barry Bonds and Manny Ramirez are both way better than Belle and both not in the Hall.

For Belle to crap on Trout is just more black victimhood complex.

But there are other reasons those two are not in. Belle swears he was clean and actually has strongly supported keeping juicers out of Cooperstown.

Sandy Koufax is IMO the benchmark for someone getting into Cooperstown with a short career and peak. So you have to ask yourself is Belle’s peak equivalent to Koufax’s peak.

But Manny was stupid enough to juice after people started paying attention. I would let the juicers from the Wild West Era in. Not the people who juiced afterward.

Mike Trout is the most overrated athlete in history. Better than Mantle, possible GOAT? Please

I agree if looking at from a small, well shaped box. He's the analytics' folks wet dream and their hero that proves all their gibberish is the "best" way to determine greatness. Next thing you know they'll be trying to convince us he's better than Bonds and Griffey. He ain't.

The average Mike Trout season extrapolated over 162 games is .301 BA, .412 OBP, .582 SA, 120 runs scored, 34 doubles, 6 triples, 40 homers, 102 RBIs, 22 steals and 105 walks, all old-school stats. I’ve expressed my doubts that he has that inner “something” that the people you mentioned had, but we are not discussing Omar Moreno here.

Found the issue

It takes Trout 10 seasons to play 162 games

Absolutely. That's a problem, even though I acknowledge the injuries he's had.

It's not always or only about hard Stats. Nor WAR (doesn't tell the story either). Nor about "popularity" contests -- though IT DOES HELP, ALBERT, YOU DUMB PR*CK.

Stats that DO matter:

-- Clutch: Late & Close
-- Game on the Line
-- NON-Compiling Stats (HRs & RBIs don't matter much when your down 10-2 or your team is 25 games out of 1st Place)
-- OMB

Non-Stats that ALSO matter:

-- Leadership
-- Inspiring Teammates
-- Playing & running hard ALL the time
-- NOT hot-dogging it
-- NOT loping or dogging it
-- NOT being Clubhouse Poison

Mike Trout: Great skills, all the tools, great stats, good guy...Could be considered a "stat-padder"; Just doesn't seem to have fire in the belly or hunger to play on a winning team

Albert Belle: A one-man wrecking crew when he played. BUT Clubhouse Poison, ruined team chemistry, and was one-dimensional
