ND played a lot of service academies, BC's, etc. Hell, Air Force beat them four years in a row in the 80s.

Anyway Alabama's run doesn't even rate with only 1 undefeated season

So USC's run in the mid-00s doesn't rate because they only had one undefeated season?

The Miami and USC runs earlier last decade are eerilly similar and more dominant in their three consecutive seasons (00-02 miami, 03-05 usc)

USC played in a shitty conference compared to what the SEC has been since Alabama started their run.

Bama also plays a contrived SEC schedule, so like USC has 1-2 games a year compared to other programs. As other's said, if OSU hits a field goal this is not a discussion.

Definitely in the argument

But I think their argument is tarnished by a few week schedules on their NC runs

I think it's more the "eye test" that would make me say Nebraska. Those teams just seemed so dominant. That LSU has been just a shade behind Alabama during their run makes Alabama's seem a bit less dominant.

For all the grief Alabama catches for it's SEC schedule, it only seems weaker more compared to LSU's SEC schedule.

Compared to Nebraska during their run, Alabama actually played around 1 more Top10 and Top25 team each season.

I guess the big blemish for the U was losing to Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl. Just one of those games where the better team just had an off game.

but that run from the mid 80's to the early 90's is the best in my opinion.

Okie St. should have been there. But HEY IF LSU was THAT great a team they should have smoked Bama the 2nd time. Saban outcoached Miles. Its pretty simple. All that garbage about having to play them again is a SORRY excuse.FACT.

Why should Okie State have been there? Do you believe for a second that Oklahoma State could have hung with Bama? It would have been similar to the Bama/Arky game.

I like Alabama. But when I think of dominant runs, teams like Nebresaka, Miami and Oklahoma come to mind ahead of them. I would have been more leery of a team I was rooting for going up against them during those runs than I'm leery of a team I am rooting for going up against Bama during this run. Not to say they aren't a great program. I just don't get quite the Awe factor as with those other teams.

Of course if we're really talking about the "greatest run in CFB history" I think you might have to go with the old Yale teams which won 26 out of 38 national championships. Of course it was such a different game then.

Maybe because they had more wins vs Top 25 teams, better SOS???

To the OP: Army may have had a similar run in the 40's...

Because you are evaluating things the teams controlled. In their bowl games Nebraska played:

1993 - FSU (#1) and lost by 2 points.
1994 - Miami (#3) and won
1995 - beat UF (#2) and won
1996 - Lost to VT (#9)
1997 - beat Tennessee (#3) by 25 points

nebraska beat virginia tech by 3 tis.

alabama's current run is awesome, but nebraska mid 90s was better. 3 undefeated national championship teams, and the greatest team of all time, 1995. the 95 florida team that nebraska beat by 40 is one of the greatest SEC teams of all time.

What a surprise, another bama "look at how great we are" thread. This is why the teams' boards were created, primarily so bama fans could fap themselves silly all day long.

During this entire "mini-run" or "baby-Saban run"

the best team Bama beat was '11 LSU - and it took a 2nd chance rematch for them to beat LSU...not winning the division or SEC.

Sorry, but Bama has been placed in the title game by the media too many times while not even doing the job on the field even with a weak arse SEC schedule.

If USC got Bama's treatment last decade, they would have been in the BCS Championship every year from 2003-2008...and once you're in the championship, crap...anybody can win...USC won 6 or their BCS bowl games...and usually was playing the best at the end of the year...as the majority of sportswriters said at the time...

"if we had a true playoff - USC would win this thing every year."

So...when these "runs" are so subjective and so dependent on sportswriters and ESPN giving you another chance after another chance to win a little crystal ball - helping you out...meh?

Is it really something to brag about when you can't take care of business on the field and need the media to give you another chance?

Subjective and overrated - just ask Okie St. or LSU.

Fact is Bama couldn't take care of any business themselves...not winning the SEC so many years is a huge black mark.

This run is somewhat of a fraud to be honest and fair.

I once talked to a Bama fan about 1970.

They didn't want to acknowledge anything.

So...not wanting to hear the truth...makes sense for you.

We're talking about a school and fanbase that claims national titles over teams they lost to.

So there you go. This thread is probably a waste of time.

Bama fans are by and large mentally insane.

I couldn't care less about 1970. I wasn't born then.

You just seem extremely agitated about Bama winning 3 outta 4 national championships.
