He was awesome. A great game. YES Miami in the 80's were a badass group.

Exactly.

I still remember watching that game...and remarking at the time that the only person playing for the Canes was Sapp that night. He was all over giving his best...but then got dog tired in the 4th and Nebraska went ahead.

80's Canes were awesome. But that 1994 Miami team was a shadow of its former self.

So I don't give Nebraska tons of credit for beating a "powerhouse Miami."

Ok that's fine. They were still better than PSU and deserved the NC. Just sayin.

I have three teams that could be considered the BEST EVER. 1972 USC 1995 Nebraska, and 2001 Miami. At this point in history I have to go with 1972 USC. That team was LOADED at the time more than any other team was over other teams in any era.

All great teams. Can't really compare eras.

We all know all the Miami players that were drafted from that team...just loaded.

2001 Miami - 6 All-Americans and 38 members of the team would be selected in the NFL Draft. Average margin of victory - 32.9 points per game.

1972 USC - 13 All-Americans and 33 players would be drafted into the NFL. First team to ever receive every single first place vote in every single poll. Averaged 39 points - opponents 10. Back then, that was huge.

1995 Nebraska - margin of victory of 39 points a game.

WAY better at the time. I don't care about comparing eras. BUT The amount of the 1972 USC team that got drafted is a HUGE difference than what came out of the 2002 draft from Miami. YOU know what I mean.

1995 Nebraska was great but they didn't play such murderous row that year.
Shoot, 2009 Bama had tougher road to undefeated season, if ya ask me.

1995 Nebraska Season

Oklahoma St --- 5-6
Michigan St --- 6-5-1
Arizona St --- 6-5
Pacific --- 3-8
Washington St --- 3-8
Missouri --- 3-8
Kansas St --- 10-2
Colorado --- 10-2
Iowa St --- 3-8
Kansas --- 10-2
Oklahoma --- 5-5-1
Title Game
Florida --- 12-1
(4 wins against Teams with 7 or more wins)[/b]

2009 Bama Season

VT --- 10-3
Florida Int --- 3-9
North Texas --- 2-10
Arkansas --- 8-5
Kentucky ---2-10
Ole Miss --- 9-4
SC --- 7-6
Tennessee --- 7-6
LSU --- 9-4
Mississippi --- 9-4
Tennessee Chat --- 6-5
Auburn --- 8-5
Florida --- 13-1
Title Game
Texas 13-1
(10 wins against Teams with 7 or more wins)
(1st Team ever to beat last 3 Title winners in same season)

Nebraska runs was good, and one of the all time greats. But Bama's run right now is just as impressive. Especially when considering Bama is doing all this in a conference that's won the last 8 National Titles. 2009 Bama was one of the best CFB seasons ever by any team too.

What a dumbass. Just look at those scores in a DOWN year in the SEC. 1995 nebraska team would have destroyed 2009 Bama. But Nebraska beat 4 teams with at least ten wins. Bama beat 2.

I may not have seen this in this thread but Fla St. Finished in the top 5 for like 13 straight seasons. I have to believe NO program can say this.

During that time, I'm sure the ACC was one of the weakest conferences in the nation. Alabama hasn't had the benefit of owning the conference like U.S.C. or Florida State. No, Alabama has had to deal with LSU, Florida, and special years by other teams.

Well not really. It doesn't really count if you "have to deal with them" - if you can lose to them and it doesn't matter.

And when has Florida been great since Bama's run from 2009 to present???

Another, SEC rep argument?

Now, it would mean something if your losses actually counted against SEC...like losing to LSU and losing to TAMU.

When USC lost a Pac-10 game like one by 6 points in Corvallis in 2008 - that was it. They didn't get to climb back in and play Florida for the title.

So your argument rings hollow - you want to have your cake and eat too.

You've had a handful of SEC opponents during your run and you only beat half of them...the rest of the SEC hasn't been up to snuff.

It was decent. Not as good as the SEC is, BUT hey. The SEC is pretty top heavy these days. Think about it.

Get your facts straight. Much of that 13 year run by FSU was as an independent. They played Miami and Florida every year. Then they usually played some other top schools as well. Then they would get to the New Years day bowl and run rings around Oklahoma and Nebraska. They were not always in the ACC.

Let me fix this for ya....
"But Nebraska beat 4 teams with at least ten wins. Bama beat 3"
(10 win VT, 13 win Florida, and 13 win Texas)
I'm the dumb one, right........

I just put 1995 Nebraska & 2009 Bama schedules up there. Everyone can take what they want from it, but I'll admit this much. I'm glad Bama's best season ever doesn't rely on beating a 10 win Colorado, 10 win Kansas, 10 win Kansas St, and 12 win Florida team........LOL

Auburn in their title year had a higher SOS rating than Bama in '09.

So did '05 USC and Texas.

2009 Bama & 2010 Auburn had special seasons
No doubt, and you'll get no argument from me there

I love Bama's season more, but I'm bias with that one.....LOL
Bama taking out an undefeated Tebow lead 12-0 Florida team & an undefeated 12-0 Texas at seasons end. Really top the 2009 season off in a awesome way. Plus, you throw in the Rocky Block by Mt. Cody -vs- Tennessee, the last second 26-21 win against Auburn, starting the show against a ranked VT team, and witnessing the resurgence of Bama under Saban. Made for a special season that comes once in a lifetime. I feel blessed to have experienced it and so should all other Bama fans. Hoo-rah !!!!

I don't mind a Bama homer but get your shite straight. If you think 2009 was Bama's BEST team??? YOU need to do some homework. I have been following CFB for over 40 years. 2009 is NOT Bamas best team.
