If you have to be selective about which race of his to use, you've already lost the argument. His world record time was 9.86 and most people are going to refer to that since it's his best vs that HS kids best.

Also, I can find no evidence of that 9.98. Trentavis Friday ran a 10.00 in summer 2014 that broke the record of Jeff Demps' 10.01.

I know but it's a part of the overall picture though and it tells a story. LBJ is a better defensive player but I don't think it's as cut and dry as you are making it out to be is all. Magic was pretty versatile too as a defender or else he wouldn't have been able to play center and post up and also move to defend against guards.

If track weren't timed, people would say Lewis would smoke Usain Bolt.

No one would fricking say that. Anyone who has even a drop of knowledge of track knows that Bolt has dominated at his peak at an essentially unparalleled level.

Carl Lewis did not smoke opponents that badly. No one at the Worlds or Olympics could really do what Bolt did. He is the 2001-2004 Barry Bonds of track.

You're using Carl Lewis in the wrong event

You should use him in Long Jump if you want to discuss dominance. Other than one fluke jump with perfect conditions in Tokyo. Lewis dominated the event much like Moses did the 400 hurdles.

Lewis has the (or had) 4 of the top series of jumps in history around 85-91

I know the 100 was not his best event. My posts on the subject were a response to saying high school kids are faster. It is hard to be faster in a long jump in terms of official results.

I know Carl Lewis was a versatile world class stud. I appreciate your facts though.

I can't sleep and have unfortunately read this whole thing. One major fricking question, who is taking MJ? Lebron is on Pippen and he is the only one who could half arse keep him in check. I am younger and will say that westbrook (spelling) is the 15s only advantage, they get killed by the bigs and MJ.

I dont mind these debates except for the idiots that use the athletes are bigger and stronger now then in the past....that works if talking 50s...but to act like bird, johnson, shaq, robinson, etc are all midgets to todays players is just awesome.

For some reason, this whole thread seems to paint a picture that 15's PGs would destroy the Dream Team PGs. Somehow the two greatest passing PGs in league history would be overwhelmed and destroyed by Curry and Westbrook. I just don't see Stockton getting beaten down by anybody. The early 90's has the greatest collection on PGs in history. Every night he went up against guys like KJ, Payton, Hardaway, T. Brandon, I. Thomas, T. Porter, M. Jackson, Price, K. Anderson, Blaylock and many others. Stockton more than held his own. He would against todays guards as well. He was mean and super dirty. Just weird that people think Stockton (or Magic) would be a liability..

God no, we are currently in the golden era of PG's

It is why the depth at SG position is so bad now

Why does LeBron have to be on Pippen?

LeBron can be on MJ, and Paul George could guard Pippen.

I was 8 when MJ won his last title I believe. But I've watched a lot of old games. I agree with the statement.

This tells me you don't want basketball. You couldn't be more wrong.

I have no idea who would win, and I won't try to debate it because I didn't get to see those guys like a lot of the older men on here.
