So with them gone, if SDSU and Boise go back west what will the rest of them do? Try to beg back into CUSA? Reform the Metro conference? Will some of them have to scramble to the Sun Belt?

That's what I want to know, according to this tweet
@SIPeteThamel
Talk of Big East "dissolving" and votes needed is moot. Bylaws say 2 FB schools need to vote for dissolution. The 7 will just leave.

Maybe they can keep the Big East name, and if Boise and SDSU go to the MWC.. BE adds Tulsa,UAB,ODU,and someone else.

If Boise leaves I don't see why Tulsa or even UAB would want to go there. What's the incentive? Their TV deal is going to be shite and that's a 2-3 bid league in basketball, and that's only if UCONN and Cincy can't suck some dicks to get somewhere else.

Doesn't look like anything different than the Cincy/UConn/USF trio that are the last men standing of the legacy Big East.

The real loser in all of this is UConn basketball.

Wow. I'm a little sad to see this.

In retrospect, the conference was essentially dead when Miami and VT left - still, it's a little sad to see it come to such a catastrophic end.

Thank God Pernetti found a way to jump ship before it was too late.

As a recent alum of a catholic Big East school, I'm a big fan of this move. Hopefully they can poach the good teams out of the A-10

About a fingernail worse than the Big East but a lot more stable. Who knows when the BE's rug will get pulled from beneath you again.

As a UAB fan we want to stick with Memphis for the basketball rivalry. We'd pretty much just be going to the same CUSA we had last year, I do like the ODU and UNCC adds they made though.

UConn and Cincy should just play as independents for a couple years and hope to get invited to one of the real conferences. Playing Memphis, UCF, Temple, SDSU, and East Carolina does absolutely nothing to help them. Just go on a 1980's type Florida State plan.

I keep forgetting USF also gets left behind in a decimated Big East I could see Uconn getting an invite pretty soon, probably cincy as well.. USF is just stuck.

USF is screwed. They've invested so heavily to move up to FBS, and now they are just going to get dropped. You have to feel bad for them to some extent, but they put themselves in this position by not being able to take advantage of the shitty Big East and a shitty Miami team. They should have had much more success than they have over the last 8 years.

Non-football participants have a right to be pissed about what's going on in the BE.

They joined a conference, trying to be a part of an elite basketball brand... and then the circus broke out. It would be comical if it wasn't so pathetic.

I don't blame the Non-FB schools who rightfully want to flee. It's just a matter of time before the Big East dissolves, and it's only a matter of time before the conference loses all credibility, if they haven't already.

If the ships sinking, might as well grab a life boat, right?

They have. I say that as a UConn fan too. The Big East was a joke the moment WVU left a year+ ago. up until then, they were probably equal to the ACC in football.

One thing I don't get: all the ESPN reports are saying that the Catholic schools were mad at the Tulane admission. The ESPN reports also say that with all the defections there are only ten voting Big East members. If the Catholic schools are 7 out of 10 votes, why did they vote to admit Tulane (or anyone else they disapproved of)?

Am I missing something?

Now you have the first real domino in conference realignment...a total conference dissolving! What is the next play? Does the ACC take UConn and Cincinnati? If they do, does Florida St and Clemson bolt to the Big 12? Does the ACC counter by adding USF? Does the B1G then poach UVA/UNC? Does the SEC then grab VA Tech/NC ST? What happens to the ACC then? This is going to be so wild to watch. Cant wait to see how the dust settles.

Have you ever seen how dominos actually work? Pretty sure the first one in the set was Nebraska going to the Big Ten.
