The Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington MSA is the 15th largest in the US with 3.4 million people. The New Orleans-Metairie-Kenner MSA is 45th with 1.2 million people. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that more money is spent in Minneapolis-St. Paul than in New Orleans. That's why the amount spent by out of state visitors would be important.

New Orleans isn't a more attractive city. It has pros and cons just like every other city we've talked about.
The NFL has started hosting more Super Bowls in colder climates and the commissioner himself said they should move the Super Bowl to different cities. Both the Seattle and Denver franchises have said that the New York Super Bowl has caused them to start to pursue hosting. The Super Bowl isn't a warm-weather only event anymore. It's going to be more equitably distributed and I think that starts when Minnesota gets the 2018 bid

I still think NOLA is the best option to host and the NFL knows that (the lights going out comments are just trolls). It will still get more opportunities than any other city to host the game. I think the point being made is with the NFLs willingness to give new cities a chance, especially with all the shiny new stadiums being built, they may not host at as high of a rate as they have in the past with an increase in competition. I don't think anybody would legitimately argue that Minneapolis, Indy, Detroit, etc. will be better host cities on a regular basis

That 685,000 is in reference to the specific events listed, not total tourism

It is referring to visitors brought in by those events, the biggest events they've hosted since 2000. I promise you 685,000 people won't actually be attending the Shriners convention, MLB All Star game, and USA Junior Volleyball championships.

No one has argued that. I've only said that New Orleans will host less because more northern cities will start to host and it's a good thing for the NFL to diversify the Super Bowl
I've never said any city is better or worse for hosting (except maybe Detroit)
