So your argument for the NFL having the Super Bowl in Minneapolis, Indianapolis, and Detroit (twice mind you) is that they were forced to do so? Please provide some links. And I'm including New York with the others above because they're all cold-weather cities that have hosted successful Super Bowls

Ford is a huge NFL sponsor. Is it written word that the NFL promised them that? No because that wouldn't be ethical. Was it basically hinted at? Absolutely. Go video pole 100 people and ask them where they want to go for a super bowl, all expenses paid. NOLA, Indy, Minneapolis, or Detroit. I would wager money more than 50% would say NOLA.

NY is not comparable because NYC stands on its own as an attraction. The others do not.

You realize in Seattle or Denver you could go skiing and party at ski lodges preceding the Super Bowl? All the cities mentioned have awesome bars and restaurants too. A Super Bowl in any city mentioned in this thread would be an awesome time

Nice contradiction

I'm also not saying those cities never deserve to get one. I'm saying that they won't with regularity like NOLA/Miami/Tampa do.

I argued against your point without conceding your point. Perfectly logical

Your opinion isn't shared by everyone. Not a lot of people would probably want to go to Detroit, but a hell of a lot of people visit Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Denver, and Seattle each year. There's a lot of stuff there. The mall of America alone in Minnesota has more than 40 million customers a year.

Eta: tourism numbers are hard to find, but New Orleans had 9 million visitors in 2012 and Denver had 13 million in 2013. People travel to these cities.

New Orleans

Denver

I never said Denver was bad. Im just telling you that cities like Detroit, and Minneapolis will not host as often as NOLA. It is a top tier host city along with miami and tampa.

Denver would be fun. Detroit, Minny and Indy, not so much. If Minneapolis's sole sell is a giant mall...

27 million people per year visit Minneapolis/St. Paul

LINK

That's three times as many as New Orleans. You think that many people go there because there's nothing to do?

Now can you find the out of state numbers?

How travelers spend their money: (Visitors spent $6.9 billion last year)

Something doesn't add up here.

New Orleans visitors spent $6 billion with 9 million visitors

yet Minny only had $6.9 billion from almost 3x the amount of visitors?

So the NFL doesn't care if people have fun within a city but they do care if you have fun hours outside of the city at a ski resort?

That is very different than 40 million unique visitors. It's also probably counting people multiple times if they make purchases at different stores within the mall.

Also, the last link you posted was to an advertisement by the Minneapolis-St. Paul Official Visitors Guide.

These numbers are hard to find. Don't know where to get that info. Maybe New Orleans is more expensive to visit than the twin cities? Maybe the average visitor spends a lot more on booze and strippers in New Orleans?

Houston

St. Louis

Tampa

your math is flawed. Find me out of state visitors. Also with three professional sports franchises, I have no doubts that there may be more visitors, but to me the telling sign is in the dollars spent. People vacation in nola. they go to minn/st. paul on business trips and maybe a weekend for a twins series

New Orleans is actually incredibly affordable

There is too drastic of a difference

Do you really think Minny gets more visitors than New Orleans or Denver?

Chicago had $11.8 billion spent with around 45 million visitors...

I'll make it perfectly clear for you in terms of tiers of attractive hosts

Top Tier: most likely hosts (every 5-7 years)
Miami
New Orleans
Tampa
Phoenix/Tempe

Second Tier: every 7-10 years
Dallas (could move to tier 1)
NYC
San Diego (would be tier one but shite stadium)
LA (would be tier one but no franchise)
Atlanta
Houston

Third Tier: every 10-15 years maybe
Detroit
Minneapolis
Indy
Jacksonville

No I said the NFL cares about tickets and tv ratings. But if they did care about how great your experience was with the city then that's not an issue. All the cities we are talking about (except maybe Detroit) are cities that people like. Hence the number of tourists.

Of course, that's why I kept looking for other numbers.

Both Miami (Dolphins Stadium & Orange Bowl) and New Orleans (Super Dome and Tulane Stadium) have hosted the most super bowls at 10 each.

Saying it will be "a very long time" until New Orleans hosts again is utterly retarded.

Only numbers I could find, but there is no doubt that there are things that attract a lot of visitors to Minneapolis. And the total money spent is still higher than New Orleans.

I could see Minneapolis getting a lot more visitors than New Orleans and the numbers I've posted show a large disparity. Denver too.

The money spent to visitors ratio is about the same between Chicago and Minneapolis

I think the NFL is making a push towards hosting the Super Bowl in cities that haven't hosted before, especially cold weather locations. I don't think anyone said it would be a 'very long time" until New Orleans hosts again

I think you have strayed away from what your general point was. Nola is and always will be a more attractive city to host a super bowl. its a fact, and the numbers support it. It's more likely to get a game than the likes of detroit or minnesota
