So we have 8 entered then..Mr Z in and Grand Bili out.
No Pletcher horses, 4 out of the top 5 finishers in the Derby.
National Weather Service is calling for a 40 percent chance of showers in Baltimore Friday night, and a 40 percent chance of showers on Saturday, Preakness Day, with thunderstorms possible after 2 pm. It will be quite warm on Saturday, too, with a high of 87.

fricking 1 hole.
I bet him in the derby, and I'm going to bet Danzig moon again in my exacta. Much less chance of Frenchie fricking up the trip with 8 horses.

With his speed I think he will be ok and still win, setting me up for a TC heartbreak again.
Don't know why but I always chuckle when you comment about Frenchie :)

Jockey's whip might have cost Derby winner Preakness Shot
Anything to this
quote:
Victor Espinoza gets results. How he gets those results, however, have the jockey under fire.
Kentucky Derby winner American Pharoah was examined by 12 state-approved veterinarians after concerns were raised over the frequency with which Espinoza whipped the horse down the stretch at Churchill Downs. Although no marks were found, the whipping bordered close enough on abuse to warrant an inquiry.
quote:
“From a tactical standpoint, Espinoza did what he thought necessary to get American Pharoah home and that is his job,” wrote Bob Ford of the Philadelphia Inquirer. But “it looks bad when a rider keeps after a horse,” Darrell Haire, regional director of the Jockey’s Guild, told reporters.
“It might not be all that good for the horse, either,” Ford notes.

Nope. He was tired, but they all were
You know how I feel about my horses and I'd kill to have Espinoza ride one.

Have a feeling the first 3 in the derby will finish again in the 3 just not sure what order, this 8 horse race is downer.

I do like firing line in the 8 spot, he can sit back and watch how things are playing out on the short track as long as he doesnt take a wide turn can make a strong at the finish. Give a 2,8 box and make some money, over a 4-5 odd.

Too bad I couldn't future bet him for the Preakness. He was my only future bet to even make the derby, I think.

Im sure I missed your post but any reason why? How are we making money of this race tri's supers or just bet all the high odds for a few bucks and keep our fingers crossed?

Hate his dad and would rather not see him do well. Don't think he's good for the breed.
And I think Dortmund has an ugly head

I think the shortened track gives Dortmund a better shot but probably not enough. It's going to be the top 3 again most likely. Maybe JR can get Danzig up there but not counting on it.

Except that it makes sense. No one runs stakes horses every 2 weeks. In the past they did. So why do it if you can't win a triple crown. if we want triple crown winners, space the races a month apart. Of course that will give developing horses not ready for the derby and who didn't run in derby time for Belmont.
As it is Pharoah gets a walk in the park for the Preakness....a race that has felled quality triple crown horses before making Pharoahs path easier.
