2015 Preakness Stakes

Not sure why there isn't a thread yet, so here it is.
Post Position Draw is today at 5p et.
Looks like another year of trainers sitting horses out of the Preakness for a shot to win the Belmont. Todd Pletcher and his 4 horses are waiting in New York for the chance to keep the Triple Crown drought going.
American Pharaoh is the overwhelming favorite currently sitting at 5-8. Currently only have 8 horses confirmed to run on Saturday.
Most likely will tribox AP, FL, and Dortmund.

Who is the 8th? Bodhisattva, divining rod, ap, firing line, Dortmund, Danzig moon, tale of verve

this is the shortest track isn't it?

The Preakness is 1 3/16 miles, or 9 1/2 furlongs, compared to the Kentucky Derby, which is 1 1/4 miles / 10 furlongs. It is followed by the third leg, the Belmont Stakes, which is 1 1/2 miles / 12 furlongs.

That is so Frickin aggravating.
Oh well, pour the black-eyed Susans.

this is why i think it is unlikely we will ever see another Triple Crown. It is almost set up to have 1 horse win the first 2 legs and lose the Belmont.

Pletcher is a fricking bitch. This is so annoying, and I expect there to be some type of rules change in the near future. I don't know how to enforce it, but this is getting ridiculous. We've got several very quality horses that aren't running just because they didn't win the Derby.

Should not be allowed IMO. The old man had a point.

I dont blame him for holding Materiality back. Lightly raced horse that has run 2 real tough races in his last 2. Plus he will like the added distance at the Belmont.
The others probably could have run. Stanford didnt run in the derby. Carpe could have ran this week.
Competitive Edge is a sprinter and I'm sure will be pointed to the Met Mile

Don't know anythingn bout this or really keep up with it, but horses should race either all the triple crown races or none at all.

No thread because aspy has been busy and was waiting for post positions.
Sorry guys.
And poor mr z getting sold and having to run. The way he gets out in the stretch he's got to be sore as hell.

Yes it should be allowed. You can't restrict a grade 1 race further than age and sex.
Who wants to win the triple crown if the last 2 aren't graded? Foolishness.

You saw "calumet" (brad Kelly) is buying mr z? That's why Lucas shipped him up there. Sale not all the way done, though

I didnt see that..very interesting.
I would feel bad for him if he had to run..Lukas has ran him so much(still barely qualified for the Derby)
Frosted v Materiality v Triple Crown hopeful AP would make for a very interesting Belmont Stakes.
Or maybe a rubber match between the Baffert horses..even though I dont like Dortmund
