frick him for the way he shat all over Andrew Loupe a year or two ago when he was in contention in the final round of a tournament for the first time in his life.

Mickelson's misses
If you say the words "Mickelson" and "U.S. Open," a dozen potential images come to mind. Maybe it's Mickelson calling himself an "idiot" after his double-bogey on the last hole in 2006, or maybe it's Payne Stewart putting his hands on Mickelson's cheeks and telling him he's going to be a great father in 1999. He has been beat up and emotionally bruised by this tournament more than any player in history, and in a way, all that disappointment sort of blurs together in our minds.
It's worth looking back, however, on each of those second-place finishes, and remembering what went wrong, in case everything somehow goes right this week at Oakmont. We're also ranking them by how painful they were. Say what you will about Mickelson, but the fact that he loves this tournament despite how often it has kicked sand in his face is pretty impressive.

I'm not saying I want to see -17 win the tournament or even -5, but I just don't like the gimmicks we see at the US Open. It seems like its getting worse each year. I want to see our national champion earn the title, not back into it because he just happened to suck less.

The GOLF channel is showing DJ and ZJ hitting balls next to each other right now. It's funny, and quite interesting. I don't think they could look more different. DJ at address, and his swing compared to ZJ's makes ZJ look like a child.

Suck less? The winner will have played brilliant golf.

Between the ears is the main difference between dj and zj ...

Everyone has complained about Spieth and how he takes forever to hit the ball now. Takes him ~25 seconds sometimes. Loupe was taking 75 seconds at times. It was brutal.

Put a wedge in their hands, and ZJ will make DJ look like a child.

Again, rookie on Tour and first time ever in that situation and Johnny Miller says "I'd quit announcing if everyone played like that" or something along those lines. Was he taking extra time on some shots? Yes. But Loupe's group finished their round a whole 12 minutes after the group ahead of them that day. Miller never mentioned that.
I lost all respect for that arrogant a-hole that day.

i was watching golf channel lastnight and frank nobilo threw a ball from the fairway and it rolled all the way onto the green. May have gone through the green, but I was only half paying attention.

Nobody throws a ball better than Frank.

Have you seen him poor a water bottle on the green? That's hard hitting journalism right there!

tell you what, sergio ain't gonna get any love due to his putting/failure to close, but the US Open is right up his ball-striking alley ... this tournament, more than the other 3 majors, depends less on the flat-stick ...
