Seems like in my younger years a car wth 100k miles was considered high. Seems like vehicles these days are easily rolling for 200k plus miles.

Just wanted everyone's opinions as I'll be in the market for a used truck soon.

I had a Tundra and I loved it. It only had about 38k miles when I bought it and I got a smoking good deal on it. I'd love another Tundra if I could come across another deal, but I've also been looking at F150's. I won't put more than 5k miles a year in it.

3 years, 40-60k miles seems to be what I look for.

I like car gurus to search around personally.

A well maintained pickup or Suburban will last 250,000+ miles pretty easily. Some diesels even more. I wouldn't be that concerned buying one with 70,000 miles to 100,000 miles with proper maintenance records and no accidents.

I had a 2012 Tundra with about 45k miles on it that I got a smoking good deal on about 2 years ago... it flooded and insurance gave me about 3k more than I had paid 2 years earlier. I'd love abkther Tundra if I can get one, but I want to be out the door for under 25k. I'm also considering f150's

Do you need 4x4? Even so, if you are going to seriously only put 5k miles a year I'd have no issues buying one with 100-120k miles on it.

I wouldn't mind it, but it's but a deal breaker. I'm just looking for the best deal

I gave a company vehicle so it'll be a weekend and occasional evening driver

My f150 has 192k on it right now and going strong. Hope to get 250 out of it. I will then look for a truck with 60-80k on it

I have a 2003 CHevy Silverado 1500HD Crew Cab. No major issues. Minor AC issue and some front end work. Other than that just regular maintenance.

I have 150k currently and going to drive it to 200k before I consider getting anything.

Depends on what you're going to do with the truck. I have a truck just for weekend shite close to the house. Bought it with 180k miles. Been great for years. Now at 210k.

For a Toyota, 100k is just getting going. I drove my tacoma until it hit 250k, and it still had a lot left to go...

It'll mostly be a weekend driver, with the occasional evening and trip out of town. 4-5K miles a year at most.

dont know. i tried to price out truck in Baytown, TX but the salesman was a prick.
i was trading in my '09 Sierra with 74k and wanted a new truck (or really low mileage used). Dipshit told me the new crew cabs would be out of my price range and took me to the used lot. tried to sell me a '09 Silverado with 76k on it. same color as my sierra.

why the frick would i trade in my truck for one just like it with the same mileage?

My brother just bought a 2008 F150 crew cab with 215k miles. It honestly runs like new. But the problem with the truck, and with vehicles in general these days, is that the interiors tend to wear out faster than the mechanicals.

To me, the question is how much interior wear can you tolerate.

Find a good upholstery shop or grab some seats from a junk yard. My truck is starting to show wear on the driver seat at 125k but it runs too good to get rid of so I'm looking for a wrecked one to get the seats.

I've got a 2009 with 83k miles on it....I get calls from the dealership every month wanting to buy it back. Tempting to work a deal but I'm not real crazy about the new body styles at this point, so I'm planning to keep it a few more years. Like you said, I'm a little worried the interior may not hold up, but other than that so far so good.

I buy and sell used cars and trucks. I think the highest miles I can remember on a car I sold was 317,000 which was a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix, and it ran good. I inspect and drive trucks and cars every week with around 250k. I've drove a Chevy truck gas engine with 505k. A honda civic with 380k. Both were in excellent mechanical shape.

If I was going to buy a truck to keep, I would buy one with real high miles because it may be in better kept shape then one with 100k. The sweet spot of a healthy margin for me is 220k-250k right now. Because most dealers are scared but a small percentage of the buying public knows that odometer reading has little to do with anything in reality, other than price. You never know how difficult it's going to be to get that 100k truck to 200k, but the 250k truck has already surpassed it. No reason to think it's gonna break tomorrow.
