Thoughts on Kinder Morgan

I've been eying KMI recently, nearing 52 week lows. Awesome yield, but the dividend is not expected to grow as much next year which shouldn't be surprising. Any thoughts on beginning a long term position with this company? Any glaring reason to stay away?

They recently reduced their expectations for dividend growth from 10% annually to 6-8% annually for the next 5 years. Kinder Morgan makes up about 6% of my portfolio so I'm very bullish on them and am still happy with the expected dividend increases.

Hell, I'll gladly take a 6% increase each year with a 7% starting yield

That's my mindset. Just making sure I'm not missing something

KMI actually has a sizable crude exposure once their hedges roll off in 2016, 57,000 b/d in 2015. Not saying that should be a deal breaker on deciding to invest, but it could be a hindrance on future dividend growth if prices stay depressed.

Can you explain this a little more and the implications?

If crude oil prices remain depressed through 2016-17, it's going to impact KMI negatively perhaps more than some expect.

Kinder Morgan was once the largest oil producer in Texas.

They have 45 Billion in debt and only $330 Million cash. How will they service this debt? Will they have to CUT the DIV?
