If I ever get married and have kids, they're going public school. Not wasting money on that while I can eat out, go to Hawaii or Bora Bora, and get cool stuff.

If those are your priorities then that's what you should do

I don't see any problem as long as he has made the effort to move to a quality school district. Now if he sending his kids a ghetto school so he can free up money for dicking around then that's messed up. IMO, only a shite parent brings a kid into the world where it has to go to low income school district.

Can't afford private school or move to a decent public school?-- then don't have kids.

If you figure $7k-$12k per yr per kid for private school tuition

Those numbers can be on the low end. There are a bunch of schools in Dallas that are in the $20-30k range (St. Mark's, ESD, Greenhill, etc.).

7K seems awfully cheap.

In Virginia you'd be paying 20k for grade school, and 40k (or more) for high school.

I looked up the numbers for my old school.

Junior Kindergarten: $9,500
Kindergarten: $14,800
Grades 1-3: $20,200
Grades 4-8: $22,200

Crazy expensive. Make Baton Rouge private schools looks like bargains.
