Americans are carrying $752 billion in credit card debt, obviously a significant number are not paying their balance in full. You get the "free" money because the credit card companies are betting that sooner or later you wont pay the balance, statistics indicate that for most card holders they are correct.
I very much appreciate that they are paying for me to travel the world for free

When I was 25, not all that long ago, I was at the porn awards in vegas and betting thousands on LSU v tamu in the cotton bowl. Enjoy it. Just try and be semi responsible. Those are years you'll never get back
ETA. You said 18. Whoops

the most important thing in life is good credit and to pay yourself first. Start worrying about both now.

Well I'm dealing with precious life mistakes. I could've paid cash for everything I own and. It had a credit card.
It may be easier for you to pay the balance, but take it from me, some people have to learn control.
As far as earning rewards, if I (personally) would've never opened credit accounts, I'd have more money in an account (cash or some other account) than 2% would've ever earned.
I'm not talking ill towards you, just staying from my personal experience about how better off I'd have been with my own advice.

Have a little more fun spending money on experiences, and don't spend as much money on rarely used and relatively expensive consumer goods.
This to a certain extent... But not my 18yr old self, more like my late 20s/early 30s self.
I've just recently started to travel and I'm addicted. I've gone through three phases in my adult years
1) Save, save, save... Known as tight arse with money
2) Save, but spend disposable money on nice things
3) Save, but spend disposable money on trips and experiences

Get started investing. My income continued to grow and I continued to have more fun with it. There was always extra money that just sat in a checking account.

3 words HVAC, Plumbing, Electrician, any of those could have put me in my own contracting business by the time I was 40.

You idiot, invest that inheritance, don't spend it!
And (if this still counts as one) use it to buy gold prior to the 2008 crash
