What are some of the best jobs to look for? I'm finishing up grad school soon and starting to look for a good job. Not sure if this belongs on the Money board or OT.

Do you have any work experience or did you go straight into your MBA from undergrad?

You didn't think about this before you threw down the cash for the degree? Does your school have OCR? What are your interests?

Went straight from undergrad. I do work full time though. I've had internships and now I work as a recruiter.

Ironic...

ROI of MBA = PV of MBA job future cash flow / PV cost of MBA

How did you decide to pursue the MBA in the first place?

I will have an undergrad in mechanical engineering after this semester as well. I was wondering if it would be worth it to go to grad school to get a masters in engineering or get an MBA with the current job market

Prolly should have thought about that before you started..

But in my case, I worked in process improvement (six sigma) and then in Sales Ops BEFORE I pursued my MBA. The MBA opened a door into management consulting.

Jesus Christ. How many times does have to be repeated on this board. Go get 3-5 years of professional work experience and then decide if an MBA is worth it (and if your employer will pay for it)

A masters in BUSINESS without business experience is just dumb and a waste of money.

Between this and buying a house with zero down you're full of good decisions

I have an Mech eng degree and an MBA. Go get some experience, you can find a job somewhere, might now be in O&G. DONT GO TO GRAD SCHOOL. Masters in eng is a waste of time unless you are getting your phd IMO.

OP, ignore the naysayers. Having an MBA on your res is a good thing last I checked. Lol

Use your school's networking resources. Go to functions and find professional happy hours and such.

I mean, you're a recruiter yourself so that's an in right there. Find another recruiting agency and send them your resume. Don't expect to make OT money right away.

No one is saying it's bad, just work experience is more beneficial.

I just hired a "non-MBA" with 2 years experience over 2 MBAs, and it wasn't even close. The level of professionalism and quality of the interview was on another level to the students.

MBA doesn't always help you find a job but moreso helps with moving up IMO. Go find a job you that interests you and utilize what you learned to add value to your company and you'll see your stock rise.

Does it need to be 6-10 years if I spend half my day posting on TD?
