Just a heads up for those considering it. This was posted by a student on the MADM715 forum looking for advice for next session because she will be out of the country for a few days with possibility of no internet:

quote:

I emailed Dr. James about MKT701to get her input. She let me know this class was being changed up and will require group work and advised I consider waiting until the fall.
I emailed Dr. Williams about MADM701 to get her input. She let me know this class was being revamped as well but would be providing all course relevant information to all registered students in the near future.

Looks like some changes are coming.

I'm so glad now that the first two classes I took in the program were MKT701 and MADM701. Nice to get the most labor-intensive classes out of the way at the beginning.

Sounds like they may be taking feedback from students to hopefully improve on the format of these classes.

Exactly. Man, looking back those courses were rough. MADM 720 was great.

how labor intensive was madm 720? I need to pair that with another elective...suggestions?.

Here are my choices

MADM 710- Kungu
ISDS 705- Lin
FIN 710 - Hsieh

who do you all recommend?

Bmcmil2 does Fin701 require a video cam? I have been lucky enough to not have to buy one yet.

Of those 3, FIN for sure. It's labor intensive but more tedious work than technical problems.

I know I'm in the minority here but to me MADM 720 was much more intense than MADM 701. 720 sucked due to having to do your own crap plus 2 peer reviews each week with sources. 701 was a breeze to me. Still made A's in both so I won't complain past that

Nope FIN 701 doesn't require a video cam unless you wanted to show yourself in the zoom sessions, but I am pretty sure you can attend without showing your video or you can just watch them later cause he posts them which is what I did. The only class so far I have had to use one is MADM 760 with Meeks because you have to do weekly team meeting on Zoom and you have to record it for him.

Ok thanks. Ya I've been able to watch the posted zoom sessions for Econ as well. I am sure I will have to be prepared to use a video cam soon but I am hoping I can take those classes when I'm not traveling as much. Thanks again.

From the reviews Dr. Lin is one of the worse. Very difficult grader and no teaching involved, I guess just throwing work at students.

Anyone have any insight on Dr. Meeks synthesis paper grading for MADM 760?

GSMBA16 - I didn't do well. 75 I think. I put little to no effort into as I pretty much had an A wrapped up but I was still surprised it was a 75. I asked for feedback on it. He replied, "feedback forthcoming." Never got it.

Email from Dr. James for MKT 701 says no case project this summer. Instead, we will be doing a simulation. I have no idea what either of those entails... so is this good or bad news?

Has anyone taken MADM 715? Do she offer a curve?
