Who has the best policies and rates here in south Louisiana? I've only owned homes in TX and am buying a place here. Starting to shop for insurance and looking for direction.

I just bought a couple of months ago. Shop with an independent agent that can check several different companies. I ended up going with Maison. What is your location?

That's like asking who has the best oyster po-boy in town.

Offerings and rates can vary greatly from zip code to zip code. Use a good independent agent, and also check with the bigs like Allstate and State Farm.

Not only check with the bigs, check multiple ways within the bigs.

i.e. local agent differs from website differs from 1-800

I went with maison as well through an independent agent and couldn't be happier. Cheapest rate and was for approved to replace a 15 year old roof for hail damage within 6 months of opening the policy.

Sounds good. I'll look for an agent. The property is in Walker btw.

I'm also with Maison. They were the cheapest at the time. I had to file a claim because I had a water leak in my kitchen and they pretty much paid for me to replace my entire kitchen.
