So they ditch their exclusivity agreement with USPS, and their stock tanks by over 50%, slipping from around $198 to less than $100.

However, it's a play on betting that Amazon goes big into shipping. If they do, if this a good buy for a potentially huge rebound?

Never understood how the business model lasted this long, when you could buy the same shipping services via the USPS website and/or through PayPal at the same price if not at a discount, without paying a membership fee to stamps.com. Who pays for a membership to buy stamps?

Must be nice to completely FUUUUUUUUUUCCKKKK over investors who believed they were buying a steady revenue model in a multi billion dollar company.

I do not care that they did this, but I think that there should have been signaling in prior calls.

Yeah... that's going to sting for investors for a while.

There was some signaling. Yahoo! Finance had a write up about it in some SEC filings in 2018 and how the article’s author had warned us to look out.

I would not think Amazon would need many stamps if they are doing the shipping.

in August last year.

quote:

"While we believe that this agreement is mutually beneficial to the USPS and to us, there is a risk that renegotiation is unsuccessful and leads to materially less favorable terms or that the USPS decides to not renew one or more of these financial compensation arrangements," Stamps.com said. "In such case, our revenue and operating results will be materially affected unless we are successful in timely replacing the lost revenue with similar compensation from other potential partners."

Dug deeper into this stock this weekend, and I'll be taking a position tomorrow.
Management buying back so much stock last year, while knowing there was a strong possibility of getting it at a discount is worrisome. But overall I like this discount.

Wow. What an awful year for this company and its employees & shareholders.

Crazy thought: Is there any chance STMP could win back its exclusive deal with the USPS? Then it would climb as fast as it fell.

I listened to the earnings call, and that would really surprise me. I'd be concerned with their management, if they did that.
Also sounds like USPS has decided to cut them out as middle man and work with the resellers directly. Which is why they cut their guidance for the year, which sent the stock stumbling.

Wow! I never understood the value of this company, but I’m sure I own it through a mutual fund somewhere. What an incredible collapse from all time high of $285 to $40.

Maybe an opportunity to buy some cheap lotto call options?
