I did, but of course I lived with my parents and had a steady job and TOPS. I managed to get in to a good bit od debt afterwards, however.

I managed it two years ago. I had tops, good paying summer internships and co-ops, and a little help from the folks. The only debt I've got now is a house and car (the car will be paid off in a few months).

If you went to a work-study college like Berea College or did the military thing, then def. yes.

Yeah its definitely possible. I had TOPS in undergrad and good summer jobs. Worked offshore for 2 years and saved $ for grad school. Paid my way thru grad school and had RA jobs. But now i have a house and a car...would be tough dealing with that debt along with CCs and student loans.

My daughter is a junior and we have done it so far. With TOPS, her job, and my supplements she should be debt free. I pay fees, books, and gas money. She pays room and board etc.

I will be graduating from grad school in May without any debt. Big shout out to the parents for saving money for me and planning ahead for college education

I did thanks to TOPS and living at home. Also, playing pool in the union helped pay some bills.

I did it 2002-06. I still have no debt. But if you have to incur debt, a student loan is one of the best to have.

I graduated undergrad with 0 debt and money in my pocket. Then I went to law school, which was another story. Now I feel like I get up every morning and go to work just to pay the shite off.

Undergraduate school is easy to graduate from without debt, considering the TOPS program and the relatively low costs. Law school, business school, tax school ... good luck with the zero-debt thing, unless of course you're comfortable with mom and pop paying for you until you're almost 30.

All the power to you for finishing graduate school without debt. For me, though, I wouldn't have felt that I was fully autonomous had I continued to rely on my parents to pay for my post-graduate education.

I'll respond in 5 years and let you know whether the debt was worth the sovereignty.

I did back in the day. Since my scholarship had a four year limit I didn't even consider stretching it out to 5 years like a lot of students do now.

My friends daughter graduated last May from LSU with no debt. She was an average student with no TOP or scholarships, did not live at home and had no parental support. She worked almost full time while in school, and took about six years to finish. There is no rule that you have to do it in four, taking an extra year or two far outweighs being in debt, and by the time you are 35, you, nor anyone else will care that it took 6 years to finish college.

I'll finish grad school in August with about 20k in debt, about 14K of which I could have avoided by not being a lazy bastard, and another 3-4K which I used for other educational purposes (CPA and CFA). Still, its a negligible amount, IMO. Most people that I know that graduated from LSU graduated with little or no debt due to TOPS.
