So I may want to pull out of Exxon stock but I don't want to lose my dividend. I'm
Seeing that there is a dividend x date of 11/10 but says it is not payable to December 9. If I close my position today will I still receive the dividend on 12/9. Thank you

If you own on the record date, 11/10/16, you are entitled to receive the dividend.

As an Exxon holder myself I'm curious as to why you are considering getting out?

To be 100% honest I have no clue. Hahaha. If there is an insight as why you think I should stay in then I would be open to suggestions. I purchased at 90 a share. Thank you

What's your goal?
Are you freeing up money to chase something else?
Do you need the money?
Or are you just sick looking at an unrealized loss?
What's the rationale?

Well I am going to build a house soon and need some of the cash as a down payment but don't have to pull it from here. I started trading about a year ago and have done pretty well or at least a lot better than I thought. Did about 8% since December. Almost felt easy which I am sure I got lucky a little. It getting in and out stocks within weeks. Exxon has kind of been stagnet since he brexit recovery. I sold before brexit and then bought back when it went back down to 90 a share. Just hasn't got close back to 90 in a while so probably just getting a little nervous. I own 90 shares.

Is XOM your most flexible or your only play for what you need to generate? I can appreciate your buying at 90 and its relatively flat range but it is such a good stock. I am no stock/invester guru but I like O/G and health care under DJT, at least his first two years

I was just curious. I inherited 600 shares in 1993 when a great Aunt died and have sold "some" after two splits as we were heavy Exxon. Will always keep at least 600 just because that's what I started with.

I've just always been told that it's one to hold on to.
