You could also look into Chase Hyatt card in 3 months from when you apply for these cards. $1K spend = 2 nights at any hyatt, anytime.

Hyatt's are limited in # of properties though, so you want to make sure where you're going first.

With this new Chase issue coming I was thinking if I should add Chase before it happens. Since we're going to Italy I thought perfect! They have nothing from a quick search on Hyatt's website. Even in Amsterdam there's the airport hotel and there's Andaz (?) but it said no availability

Sorry, I did not want to give an impression of this being something that only I was "in the know" about. Just e-mail me.

Yeah, not too many interesting Hyatt's in Europe. If you are a skier I'd look into Park Hyatt Beaver Creek over christmas. Wide open. $1000+ a night.

I guess I'm snagging the Ink and United cards while I can.

What Chase do you have currently? I have UA, SW, and IHG.

I was just thinking of getting the Hyatt for my Euro trip but they aren't where we're going in Italy and it's an airport hotel in Amsterdam.

Should I look into the Hyatt, Ink, or CSP iyo?

In your situation (and in most others tbh), I would get the ink and csp without a doubt.

What is your app history in the past few months? Have you had the CSP/Ink before?

I'm going to throw in my $.02 about Europe. Stay in a place that puts you where you want to be. I was able to use points in Rome because I liked the location of the hotel and I had points for it. I paid for the rest of my accommodations and am at ease with that decision. Our hotel in Florence was on the Arno River overlooking the Ponte Vecchio. You can't get that location with points but it's spectacular.

Was it "Hotel River?"

Gotta agree with you.

Except IC Paris Le Grande (2), Westin Palace Milan (1), Hilton Stucky Venice (1) and Rome Cavalieri (2) - we are doing AirBnb (9)

Never had INk/CSP before. I have gotten in the last 6 months:
Prestige
SW
AS

I got the IHG in May, UA in July 2014. So not sure where that puts me but I'm thinking if I am going to get a Chase card I should do it before April, right? They Hyatt intrigues me because of the free night per year for $75. I really wish they had Italy in their lineup and it would be a no-brainer.

Yup. That's why the Hyatt would've been great, I can't imagine it not being in the mix of where you want to be. We already have the Westin Europa in Venice booked for 20k SPG and I am looking at either the St. Regis in Rome or the Westin in Florence for 20k per night as well. But we won't cover all our nights on points and I have no problem paying for a hotel where we want to be.

The free night is usually worth it, but if used right the 2 Free nights at any location sign up bonus is an absolute steal. I just snagged the card for my wife and we're staying at the Park Hyatt in NY in March. This is the second time we've used the bonus here(my card the first time) and both times the rooms were about $800/night when we booked it. Essentially a $1,600 sign up bonus for $1k/3m spending. That's ridiculous.

Like someone said above. You can even stay at the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek which is $1000/night for a $2k bonus.

Available on 6/22 and 6/23 for 80k per night if anyone is interested. I don't have Hilton and the offer of 40k is shite. Too bad I didn't get in on it a few months ago when it was 80k, we could've had 2 nights at the Waldorf in Rome. Didn't know I was going to Italy until a couple weeks ago though

Yeah, will look into this card for a specific trip so me and the wife can do 4 nights.

Using free night certificates for all the hotels I mentioned.

I almost never use my points on high cat redemptions. Exceptions are 5* ski resorts or something like Bora Bora. Low/Mid cat usually is best value.
As far as spg goes, I can't spend 15-30K points on 1 night when it could potentially mean a one way flight to somewhere. But I am sure it is fantastic either way.

St Regis Rome is 750 Euro a night for when we're going. I think 20k SPG is worth that all day.

Nice job. Too bad I didn't plan this better could be staying at the Waldorf.

Does "weekend night" mean Sat and Sun or does Fri work?

If you end up getting the spg card, help someone out on here and let them refer you so they can pick up 5k extra points. You can then refer your girlfriend off your own account so you get 5k extra.

Some of the other cards have referral bonuses too.

Was that an auto approval or did you have to call in? I've never done a citi business cc account. Got my wife's next aa plat app approved this morning. Her miles from the last one should post this week.

Yeah I will certainly put someone as a referral if I go with the SPG. I talked to my girlfriend and since we aren't sure where we are going to honey moon yet we are leaning towards both getting a Sapphire to get the 50,000 bonus since the chase points seem flexible and like I previously mentioned we use Southwest a lot so those bonus points will probably give us about 3 domestic round trip flights which would be great.

I am also leaning towards the SPG but my question is how hard is it to actually rack up points on that card and do the hotel rooms they offer cost an affordable amount of points?
