But I'm not even talking about manufactured spending. I mean people want no part of massive sign up bonuses. I haven't even made it to the truly savant level you guys are at. I'm paying for four nights at a resort that costs over $800 per night with nothing more than a couple of sign up bonuses (60k from the last Ink Plus special and getting the lady a Chase Hyatt).
I've literally had people tell me that they wanted no part of the point game because they had their long term "low interest" credit card and didn't think they could "keep track of more than one". Blows my mind.

There's also a large segment of the population that firmly believes that having credit cards means carrying debt and paying interest.

That's what I need to learn next

I still can't get over my paranoia that the method I was using would get fricked overnight and I'd get stuck with several thousand dollars in a medium I can't use

The biggest thing is to never have more "in play" than you can comfortably float.
In my case, I always keep it under one full month of cc expenditures so if I was ever caught holding the bag, I'd just pay with the GCs.
Heck, I'd bet some people do that already with Ink. Keeping track of the balances would be a PITA to me though

That's part of it too. Some also know they don't have the self control to play the game and would likely end up biting off more than they can chew.

I almost never have more than a couple grand in a MS vehicle like GCs. I've been stuck a few times not being able to unload gift cards for various reasons. I unloaded 16 $200 staples cards paying for my wife's grad school tuition online and they shut down her account for fraud . She wasn't impressed that she had to call in and explain it so they would accept the payments. Whoops.

Wow, a university not taking money? That's a shocker.
Anyone tried using the MileagePlus X app?
I see a bunch of crap in Metairie, but I also see OfficeMax. If yall have experience with the app, you'd see why I wonder if the Chase Ink would pick up the category bonus. But if it did, it would be pretty awesome. I might go test it out.
From posts I've read it seems like the CSP picks up the dining category.
Eta: not looking good from further googling

Not available in California.

Still waiting to see what happens with the GC exclusion for the Apple Pay bonus before I jump in to that worm hole. Read any reports yet?

It's 5x Amazon quarter fellas

When do they typically release what is gonna be 5x? I'm looking to get a card not tied to my bank? Something I can leave in my glove box and use <20 times a year.

What's your angle? Just about any no annual fee cash back card will do for that purpose.

Chase usually releases next year's calendar in November.

My current cc is tied to Wells Fargo as a college card. I eventually will dump it when I dump WF. I would like to have something to switch to later. And I probably would use it when it has 5x the points.

If you get a Christmas present from me and it didn't come from Amazon, you must be special.
Free shipping to your house, gift wrapped, and I get my 5.5x. Hard to beat that.

What's the point ? Why not just use it all the time?

Yup. Pretty much if it isn't on Amazon you aren't getting it for Christmas.
Also going to abuse some Amazon Pantry.
This year I'm planning to buy a ton of Amazon gift cards for myself with any remainder I have left in December for use the rest of the year.
My Citi Double Cash is APR 0% for 15 months so I'll probably float myself the cash via Visa Buxx and pay it down when I feel like it/as I go along before the term is up. Probably will be between 2 to $3,000 I'm guessing.

Need some advice from the experts...
I currently have Chase Sapphire and have been earning lots of points. I think they're going to hit me with an annual fee in November, so I'm thinking about cancelling the card.
Is that the right thing to do, and are there any good offers available right now?
