Think it had more to do with familiarity than potential. Coach is familiar with Cassel, I get that. If Mariota goes down for any length of time, they will be back on the market because Alex Tanney and Cassel are not the answer.

A 16.5 overall QBR in 14 appearances is not good.

The Titans have won about 5 games in two years. Mett had some good games in the Titans 10 losses and some bad ones. He fell to the 6th round because of the drug test. Probably was a 3rd rounder on most boards before that.
He will continue making money in the NFL and this is a blessing for him. Titans bringing Cassel in to mentor Mariota. No big deal.
He is young and will get another chance somewhere in a league that is QB starved.

The Titans were beyond incompetent not to trade back in last years draft like they did this year. Two drafts of supporting players would have made a world of difference for Mett.

I am hearing that he could be in Cowboys camp int fall competing for #2 spot since Cassell is gone. They still need a #2 until they get Dak up to speed at what they hope he will be at #2. Romo is an injury waiting to happen and they can't roll into 2016 without a decent back up with at least some NFL experience.
