quote:
That voodoo's real. When the "Four Corners Salute" gets cranking, it's like listening to a 747 made entirely of fired clay crashing into a field of shattered glass. Getting a snap off effectively is in itself a game ball-worthy achievement. Combined with the orgy going on outside the stadium for five miles in any direction, it's the gold standard for any other college gameday experience. Any of them. It is peerless in terms of demonstrated intensity, lunacy, commitment, flair, and menace. Tiger Stadium

Curley Hallman, when referring to a weakness of the team said, "Well, it's been our Achilles tendon all year. We have to work on it".

I know this is not football, but it's good.

These are two of my favorite quotes from LSU coverage so far this season:
Matt Hinton, aka Yahoo's Dr. Saturday, describing our penchant for winning big games without playing pretty.
Spencer Hall, aka EDSBS' Orson Swindle, describing LSU fans' lack of intimidation of the atmosphere at WVU.
quote:
Then there's LSU, which sits at the end of the bar with uncombed hair, a vulgar t-shirt and a plastic Abita cup and still goes home with the girl almost every night.

Les Miles is my coach. You think you can show me the mouth of madness? I've worn madness' hat, and the fit was perfect.

This, but it was a guest anylist. I think we were about 3-4 games into the 07 season?
I loved listening to Bill King back then. He gave LSU ALOT of love.

Pretty much anything Miles says. He's got a list of quotations that rival Yogi Berra.

"If Notre Dame is No. 1, LSU is No. 1A" -- South Bend, Indiana headlines the morning after ND beat LSU 6-3 in a game that LSU missed 2 field goals...a hard-fought defensive battle from 1970 or so.
the next year in TS, on national TV in 1971, a scout for Rice was in TS watching the game. He's sitting next to a crowd of nuns in all their vestments. He was quoted as saying, " it was the darnedest thing I've seen in my life, a 80 year old nun with fist in air shouting at the largest Catholic university in the world. She's screaming, go to hell Notre Dame, go to hell ....."

Enter a different world...
It's over 93,000 grizzled, whiskey drinking Cajuns packed together in a sweat-drenched bowl on a saturday night in Baton Rouge, LA
Another 150,000 fans never even enter Tiger Stadium but choose to party outside eating crawfish, drinking bourbon, and watching the game on TV
Really, the whole thing is just one big party, I grew up with it and I will die with it
There's an electric energy in the night air and around 7 p.m the hair on the backs of necks stands straight up as the drum roll sounds
The enormous crowd comes to its feet
A roar permeates the night air as a purple and gold clad band marches onto the field
Pandemonium erupts
A teetotaler is splashed with whiskey and coke
It's the beginning of another football season in Tiger Stadium in a state where college football is the real religion and everything else runs a distant second.
(Not sure who said it. Just know that one of my friends has it as his Facebook quote.)

I loved Marquise Hill. He was a beast!

No the quote I am talking about went something like this: Reporter: growing up in New Orleans with Eli Manning did you ever play with him. Hill: no, me and my friends use to stand outside the fence (at Newman) and watch them play hoping that they would invite us to play with them, but they never did..... Well today he has got to play with me.
Does anyone remember this? I have only heard this story through second hand sources and would love to verify it. That is the game where Hill went off and even had the sack on the last play of the game.

This on ESPN today was pretty good.
