Billy Cannon was my dentist growing up. Always was nice to me.
Ran into him at the LSU crawfish boil last year in Houston. Walked up and called him Dr. Cannon. Talked to him for about 15 minutes while others were waiting in line. Was a friend of his son's back in high school. Played sports (football, basketball and track) against several kids that played at LSU. Played basketball at BR High with Al Richardson in 9th grade. He dad was the coach.
Ton's of other stories growing up in BR - was not that big of a deal back then.

Xavier Carter tried to cheat off me in the easiest sociology class exam ever. This was after he had left the football team and I knew he was a POS from being around campus. Didnt let him see shite
I also tutored a bunch of football players my senior year. I started with 7 players in this one class, only Ryan Miller didn't drop (very nice guy)

Sat behind Rudy Macklin at the Ole Miss game last year or so I believe..being a youngster, I knew who he was but didnt realize his face so during the game we talked the whole time until we met up with my father who was sitting with a friend in the uppers he had a shocked looked on his face..Rudy and I exchanged goodbye's and my father asked me if I knew who that was..and when he told me I thought it was pretty cool.

My GF went to school with our punter (MD) back in 85. We partied all the time and he would bring several other players over to my place after the bars closed at 2. My roomate made the mistake of showing them his 9mm one night and next thing I knew they were outside shooting the dumpster at Brightside Pk. That was one of about 10 times that the cops came by when they were at my place.
We were partying at my place another night and everyone came down with a serious case of the munchies. They never had any money so they spent an hour laughing while they devised a plan to get some free pizza. The funiest part was some of the stupid ideas that they were coming up with. After that night, the Domino's in Tigerland wouldn't deliver pizza "poolside".
I took several of them to Laf with me for the Boucherie. They turned a port-o-let over with a dude in it...door side down!

Best and worst happened the same day within 10 mins of each other.
I take my son to a different ballpark each summer to catch a game and to have a father-son weekend. He is a huge baseball fan.
A few years ago he wants to see Ryan Theriot play and the only weekend we could go was the Nationals-Cubs in DC. Get there early with LSU baseball and towel to get Theriot's attention. Unfortunately, it is raining off and on and they don't go through normal workouts and aren't signing autographs.
Mike Fontenot comes out and starts talking to someone standing next to us in the stands. He never acknowledges us even though my son is literally close enough to touch him. Refuses autographs and leaves.
On the other hand, Theriot comes out right before the National Anthem and does some jogging and stretching behind third base. Stops during the playing of the National Anthem and then as he heads back to the dugout he spots my son and his LSU towel. He has just enough time to run out of his way and sign the baseball and tell him to have a great time before the game starts. Quite possibly the only autograph he signed that day.
Fast forward to the next summer, my son and I are in the Baton Rouge airport for our next trip and Theriot is in the gift shop. Apparently he came in on a day off and was flying back out for a game that evening. He took 5 minutes to talk with us and asked my son all about his little league team, what positioned he played,etc.. I told him how impressed I was by his gesture the year before and thanked him for making my son's day once again. Class act all the way.

Spoke with Verge Ausberry at the Bachus parade on Sunday and had met him briefly years ago when our tailgating Krewe won a championship at LSU at the end of 1999. He remembered being one of the judges along with Warren Capone and Tommy Hodson. All three were nice as could be and I remember that Tommy had his wife and kids with him at the time.
Verge was very nice and took a second to take a quick photo with me while keeping an eye on his son. All three of those guys were nothing but class.

Dalton Hilliard and Gary James showed up at my house one afternoon and played basketball with me.
Thanks, Danny. RIP.

For my 21st I ran into Glen Dorsey and jokingly told him I could beat him off the block. He burst out laughing and got down in his stance.

when I was 13, my godfather pulled some strings and got us on the team plane to the Vanderbilt game. this was in '86 with hilliard, james, wickersham, etc.etc. we even stayed at the team hotel. spent the day watching games in the lobby/atrium and playing ping pong with the team. darrel phillips was really cool. hung with a guy named Micky something or other most of the day. he was a kick returner. he broke his leg on the first play of the game. I was sad for him. we then flew back with them after the game. they were all very nice guys. James and hilliard were very humble. it's something I will never forget. RIP Paran.
