I would. A tandem of Adams and Mathieu would be filthy.

Mathieu is so awesome.

Taking Fournette without a doubt.

If you take Mathieu and Guice gets injured you're now leaving 100% of the RB duties to D. Williams and Brossette -on a team that really likes to run the ball

If Mathieu gets injured our secondary is still stacked

couldn't disagree more. We have many RBs who can do a good job.

Mathieu was a game-changer unlike any player I've ever seen. Even though we have very good DBs behind him, no one was even close to being the game-changer that he was.

I agree

Big fan of Darrell Williams and company but other than Guice none of them are even close to being on the same level as Fournette and PLEASE don't try to say they are.

never said they were the same as Fournette, only that we have numerous talented backs that could do a good job if LF wasn't here.

By contrast, nobody could come close to impacting a game like Mathieu.

Why are people getting upset about a hypothetical question in the offseason?

Seems like some still have a real hatred for TM7 which is pretty childish to still be upset about a KID who messed up

And it's an easy question actually. You take the more valuable player..the game changing DB,turnover machine, special team demon over a running back

This is true.
That being said I think we will still enter the year with one of the best defenses and secondaries in the country with solid back ups in the secondary positions if any members of the secondary go down.
Also Aranda is good at putting players in position to make plays/puts players in position to their skill set... so there's that

However, if Guice goes down we only have D. Williams and a group of other talented players that do not have much experience at the college level yet.
Oh and did I mention we like to run the ball? Yeah, because we like to run the ball.

I will get crucified but I say yes. Turnovers and more possessions are more crucial than a special runningback. We have someone of Guice's caliber every year at LSU, so our runningbacks are always pretty good and can run through a hole for 5-7 yards. What we do not always have is someone that can help get our defense off the field on third down or cause a turnover and give us extra possessions. We also don't have a valuable special teams player like Mathieu, both in the return and field position game.

I agree that this is not a close question.
Mathieu was one of the most exciting players in the P&G uniform ever. He was not in a position to make a difference in the game more than a few plays each game.
However, Fournette will be a factor in 60-70% of our offensive plays. His talent will a difference maker in a lot of those plays.
In a sense, the position dictates the answer.
No trade.

You shouldn't get crucified for knowing football. Some people need to put aside their love for LF7 and answer the question objectively

We lost 3 times last year with a once and a generation running back. Realistically, I think we lose 2 this year. Give me the guy with ability to change the dynamic of a game on multiple fronts.

This thread reminds me that after Fournette committed that there was some talk about him getting some reps at linebacker.

This really is a good hypothetical question, it's very hard to weigh the pros and cons.

I'm going to go with no, I wouldn't trade.

At this point I think this team needs that heart and soul on offense. Guice could step in and be very good, but I want 7 on the field when the game is on the line. I think after Bama last year he has something to prove, and with Mathieu is would be hard to duplicate that special season he had.

The more I think about it, the harder it gets though.

No one is throwing him to the trash. Tyrann was a bigger game changer than Leonard has been so far. Leonard put up historic numbers and we still lost 3 games. Give me the guy that could do it on special teams and had the ability to give our offense a short field to work with

Meh, Tyran was a game changer but he no showed twice in the same seaon against Bama.

No shite.
Most hyped and potentially Greatest player LSU has ever had and half the people on this thread would swap him for a dope head that couldn't even manage to stay eligible.

It's embarrassing.

And don't give me this BS line of how he's changed his life around blah blah blah... Good for him.

Doesn't change the fact he fricked over this coaches, teammates and fans while he was at LSU because of his his selfishness.
I swear to god some of you are absolutely worthless and borderline retarded.

My goodness youre stupid.
