First,m Wiscy's drop off from their 1st string to their 2nd string is exactly why depth is important.

Seconde, would Wiscy have come close to scoring any points at all if LSU would have had those 4 missing DTs on the field that night? What if OLSU would get to keep their players for four and five years like Wiscy does? Then we would add the two DTs that would be seniors this season instead of NFL rookies right now. What would that score look like then? Do I have to mention the other early departures on the other side of the ball?

The Wiscy FB program is a cool entity but it is nowhere near the LSU FB Program in any category. They had the best possible opportunity to beat a reloading LSU team early in the season and still did not have the depth to last past midway thru the 3rd qtr.

Yeah, I'm a dick but I'm truthful.

I've always hated that "well we would have one if so and so wasn't hurt" argument.

Its called depth. Its a part of what makes a good team good. We had more of it than they did therefore we won.

Preach.

Same as when someone says they would have won if not for all the turnovers and in baseball when someone says they would have won if not for all the errors they made.

Injuries and depth are part of the game. It is one of the reasons the SEC has such an advantage over other conferences. Depth Depth Depth. It's like location, location, location. Look at the 2007 season when Glen Dorsey was chop blocked in the Auburn game. He wasn't the same until the BCS Championship game. But we still won big games because of quality depth. It happens every year. Ridley got his chance when we lost 3 other backs in one year. It happens.

How true that statement is...hard to be objective when you're a moo state fan, always have to look subjectively for wins, as the real ones are very hard to come by...

Yes, they win. But they were out, and that is HOW LSU wins under Les. They beat you up. Les recruits beasts. They beat you to a bloody pulp for 2-3 quarters, then win by submission. But I still lose faith every time they are down, even though I know deep down that an LSU game doesn't really start until midway through the 3rd quarter.

I can absolutely guarantee that LSU either would or would not have won in that situation. Anyone who tell you different is wrong.

You can play the "what if" game as much as you want. And can do it for a lot of close games.

If our starting C, CB, and 2 key players on the DL in Herron and Bain weren't suspended / withheld from play, would we have played better vs the run and offensively the first half?

Who knows....

We won the game. That's all that matters.

I suppose YOUR team deserved no credit for playing better d and shutting down wisco and we never would have completed the td to Diarse and Hilliard would never had broken for a td.

I guess my sarcasm didn't carry over too well. I am fairly certain we would have won that game no matter what. Once the team woke up after the last Wisconsin TD, there was no stopping them. I was convinced it was over after the Diarse TD.

Yes. LSU was moving the ball throught the air quite effectively in the 2nd half and the last 5 posessions for Wisconsin were punt; interception; punt; interception; punt. LSU's defense was dominating and throttling Wisconsin at that point.

Let's be honest, those two injuries had a big effect. Yes, you can play the "what if" game on both sides, but Wisky losing those two guys on their D line really hurt them. True, we took advantage, like a good team should do, but it's absurd to ignore the impact those two injuries had on their defense.

Sorry to say but you sound like an Ole Miss fan. Games are not decided on what might have happened if players did not get hurt, if refs did not blow calls, if it rains, if it is real windy, IF IF IF.

Teams win because they take advantage of the opportunity at hand and execute. Pure and simple!!

What 'IF' Mett had red shirted and was a fifth year senior???? Get my point!!!
