My opinion: The ref saw that this was an opportunity to make the call without effecting a sure blow-out.

A good official is never remembered.

I just saw an OU player do some Roger Craig high steppin in endzone after TD...surprise...no flag.

Was it IN the endzone or inTO the endzone? I watched about 12 minutes of that game.

Seriously, the implementation of this rule seems like it's essentially the same thing as Holding. They both happen on just about every play, so the refs have to make judgement calls on how egregious the offense is and when to call it. Otherwise, there'd be a shite ton of game stoppages.

Honestly:

How the frick has TM7/HB not been called for this yet? The rule isn't being applied equitably. In that case, the refs should strictly reserve this for obvious and major violations, of which Wing's actions certainly were not.

Worst officiating I saw today was in the UT/UGA game. 5 consecutive plays with penalties - 4 holding - all on UGA and all after UGA got up 20-6. 4th and 57!

We better hope that damn crew is not doing the game at Rocky Top next week.

The rule is new this year and refs are looking out for it.

This is just an ignorant statement. If the refs are "looking for it" then it's absoluely amazing that in the first few hundred games they just haven't been able to find one until today.

Is that what you're saying? It's kinda obvious you don't follow the game too closely.
