Hopefully Blackwell will have more to say about it and it will turn out to be nothing, but with this and then Peterson criticizing the offensive playcalling, it doesn't help the program.

I'm not even sure if Peterson isn't talking out his butt, but it sure seems LSU players stick their foot in their mouth more than players from other schools.

And boy ain't it just like clockwork around here. Anytime a post about how Miles chose JJ over Lee, day or night, the same 6 or so posters are on here telling us to move on, ain't Miles' fault, look at his record, yadda, yadda, yadda. Why do these same people care so much about what is being said Miles? Maybe it's just a couple people with multiple screen names?

Suspicious.

-------------------------------
TlsuGGER, while I agree with your views on JJ, I cant help but personalize your above quoted statement.... My reasons for being one of the ones that says, "look at his record, just move on, yadda yadda", (for the record, I never say "yadda yadda"), is:
Simply because its just time to let it go and move on. Its like :beatdeadhorse:, ya know?? it just time to drop the stick and walk off.
And after going 24-3 over the last 2 seasons, CLM has earned that. We have a very bright future, we just need to embrace it.
Last and not least, is there is not a satisfactory answer for what we witnessed Jan. 9th.... and only frustration comes with trying to find one. And "NO!", CLM aint gonna give you one...
So quit , and just be .

Calm the frick down. The kids aren't used to losing a big game and they're upset. Move on to baseball season. Every program loses big games. This isn't some crushing loss that will cause doomsday. Next season will start just like the rest of them do.

Has Coach Miles improved as a coach? Or does he seem to slow to correct deficiences?

I don't think Miles has ever been slow to correct deficiencies aside from the NCG. Our defense was trash and he tossed out the DCs and got Chavis, #2 defense this year behind what is statistically the best defense ever in CFB history. Our offensive identity didn't exist and we had no offensive production at all last year, he tossed Crowton and grabbed what will turn out to be the best QB coach hire at LSU in a long time. 38pts per game after being 11th in the SEC last year. The pass attack is a matter of QB not coaching. We were throwing for over 200/game with Lee. With JJ in, they ran more with the QB and he isn't as good at passing as Lee is.

I think Miles track record is that he learns from mistakes and usually corrects them.

All other reasons aside, recruiting does seem to be uncharacteristically down this year.

especially for a team that won the sec championship and made it to the MNC game.

He doesn't need me anymore."

Usually corrects them after a mistake festers for a very long time and causes losses or other problems. He's no Football Swami, that's for sure.

Mostly reading between the lines and trying to analyze the obvious frustration that is in his quotes. Is he blatantly trashing Miles, no? Is he really complaining about not receiving a phone call from Miles? No. Like us he is searching for a reason for the poor performance and is reaching out to Miles for an answer, but Miles isn't providing and adequate one (or in this case any answer).

People are interpreting it with their own biases but I think it's clear that Blackwell is frustrated and is venting, much like everyone else.

I think the thing to pay the most attention to is not what his actual words are, but that he is venting AT ALL. Normally you don't see players like RS, Blackwell, and Peterson come out and say anything at all about the program, and here they clearly are saying SOMETHING, which is the real story.

I'm on the record as a huge Miles supporter, but I also fully admit that the NCG was a colossal failure in prepartation, which has always been a strong suit of Miles, overall gameplan, and in game adjustments.

So I say this fully placing the blame on the coaching staff:

Any chance Blackwell and DP are kind of vaguely deflecting blame because they are interviewing for a job in the NFL and they just got their asses fricking manhandled in front of the whole country in the biggest game of their lives?

What do you expect them to say to the NFL scouts who hold their futures in their hands? "Yeah, Coach Miles did a great job with the game plan but the Bama DL just plain beat the frick out of me. It was all on me."

And Peterson hasn't exactly been the model of toughness and consistency. He routinely avoids contact, doesn't appear to always display max effort in blocking, drops passes, and isn't always on the same page with the QB, although I have no way of knowing whose at fault in those instances.

They're trying to get jobs in a very competitive field, and if questioning the leadership in their former job will deflect some poor performances, they probably should.

Hahah just saw this in another thread:

quote:

Senior Bowl Stock Down

LSU TE Deangelo Peterson
Peterson's lack of size (6-2?, 230) showed up when he was run over during a blocking drill, and he does not separate from coverage as well as you would like from a player his size. He's too mechanical in his cuts and does not show great burst. It's easy to blame his lack of production on the run-heavy scheme he played in at LSU, but Peterson has not delivered on his chance to prove that was the case. His ball skills are inconsistent and his blocking is an issue, and Peterson's stock is taking a hit.
-- Steve Muench

I mean, I wish DP and all Tigers the best, but clearly he isn't some Jimmy Graham/Gronk that Miles held back.

What is the line, looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane?

Thanks for the big plays against Bama in 09 and 10 DP, but Miles wasn't the only one holding you back. Take a look in the mirror.

Yikes. Even worse for Blackwell:

When it comes to L.S.U. OG Will Blackwell it’s probably better to observe the old adage that if you can’t say anything nice then it’s better to say nothing at all. It’s been a real rough week for Blackwell, who just doesn’t look like he belongs on the same field with all of these amazing offensive and defensive lineman.

In Blackwell's defense, he never looked the same after his injury last year IMO.

Hope someone takes a chance on him.
