Really?

You can't just look at the fact that SEC has the best defense and the Big 12 the worst?

Will your opponents out recruit you because they steal your good Offensive recruits? (Saban, has already stolen a bunch of them and will continue to do it).
can you fill me in on which offensive recruits Saban has stolen from Miles?

Great post. Finally somebody that knows a little football.
I've been called every name in the book on here suggesting otherwise, but thank you.

Well, except for Saban stealing a bunch of offensive recruits. Can't say I agree.
Like who ?

Eddie Lacy is from Duchtown. Kenny Bell is from Rayville, and Saban scored a knockout punch this year by getting Landon Collins from Geismar and Denzal Devall from Bastrop.

2013 shows another big commit as well. There were others in 2010 but can't remember, but the # appears to be growing year over year.

Is there any evidence at all that this is a problem? I mean, seriously, are we really having trouble getting our highlights played on national TV? LSU's game tv ratings are as high as they ever have been nationally. You throw this out there but have absolutely no evidence to back up this stance. As long as you win games and are in the national title hunt, you will get on tv
Your statement is true, we 'get on TV'. I was referring to the highlight reel kind of plays that young people are attracted to: big pass plays, QB's slinging the ball, etc. LSU's highlights usually consist of some big defensive stops and a running back mowing down a few defenders on the way to the endzone. It is what it is, but it's not sexy. Big time QB's and recievers are not going to continue knocking on the door if they don't see a philosophy that shows off their talents.

Probably should have. RR left due to the philosophy and we could have used a go to reciever.

Do you think they signed with Bama just because of the defense?

I agree. What are the odds that both Rettig and Jennings make it to BR unless something changes? Miles will say they don't have the "chest" or some such bullshite, when in reality they just want to play at a school where they can showcase their talents. With our current offensive mindset, LSU may not be a good fit for them.

who cares, I was refuting YOUR point that Saban is stealing offensive recruits from Miles, which is just flat out false

Miles is running the offense he believes best compliments his defense in order to win games.

Yes. Because an offense that routinely goes 3 and out is the perfect complement to the best defense in the country.

Mitt Romney and Barack Obama agree on two things: Foreign policy and that the logic that a bad offense somehow helps or goes with a stellar defense does not make any sense.

The point really is Miles offense isn't going to keep LSU an elite program. He obiviously had others running it at OSU. Now will he admit this and go out and get someone who can fix this pedestrian Big 10 throw back offense ,or will he remain stuck in the late 70s while we watch the program slip back into mediocrity.

Point taken, some are on defense. But that won't prevent the drip drip drip out of the state in the future unless we get our offensive house in order, it's inevitable.

if we are talking recruits that were stolen from Miles, than all of them (Collins being the only one)are on defense

His tendency (philosophy learned from Bo Schembechler) is to do just enough on offense to win, use defense and ST to shut down the opponent, don't turn the ball over, and "secure victory".

These are the questions you should be asking

One more question...how was Bo's Rose Bowl record (already know he couldnt win NCs)?

Our defense was scoring some points and getting a plethora of turnovers last year, giving our offense the ball way more times than most offenses would get it. This led to all the scoring.

No one should truly believe LSU was an offensive juggernaut last year. Good defense that scores and creates turnovers every single game, will make your offense look more proficient than it really is.

SEC defenses >>>>> than B12 defenses. All you need to be successful against B12 is a fast tempo offense. K State has mediocre talent, minus Klein, and they are putting up 50 pts a game. Ive never heard of any other players on that team except Klein. B12 D are the worst in the nation.

Looks like you need to swap your greater than sign to a less than sign. Presently, your post indicates that Big 12 defenses are much greater than SEC defenses. I don't think that's what you meant to say.

I think that even the Rant can agree on one thing.....SEC defensese are >>>>>>>>>>>>>>than Big 12 defenses.

Ok both false. Lacy did in fact have an LSU offer early on, Ford committed, and Lacy didnt look like he was going to be academically eligible so we told him we "lost interest" in him and stopped pursuing him. He did have an offer though.

Kenny Bell was committed to LSU as a JR and was coming to LSU, then Bama got on him. De-committed, and is now at Alabama.

Both indeed had LSU offers.

Hardly think it's inevitable. We've gotten a handful of players from Alabama as well. We can get more if we offer their girlfriends full schollys and a job.(Obvious Landon Collins reference, and I know, defense)
