This. And from what I understand it was just about 24/7; shite could go down with him anyplace, at any time and for any reason. It went beyond just simple thuggery.

Had he been born 20 years later he would have been on some meds.

We have a winner. Art once told me his older brother used to tie him up in the swamps and leave him overnight to toughen him up. He said the mosquitoes would drive him crazy. He kinda lost his patience when he drank too much.

The Atiyeh's were mobbed up as well. His brother was married to the daughter of one of Marcello's lieutenants. IIRC, George did some time back home in PA on an illegal gambling charge a few years ago.

I was in school at LSU during Andolsek, Hodson, Harvey Williams era. Saw Andolsek get angry at this douch dancing up a storm during the playing of Sweet Home Alabama the night Bama beat us. Shame on the band for playing that song anyway. In Tigerland of course

Andolsek was no way, shape or form, thuggish. I started LSU in '77 and the Art Cantrelle stories are mythic...and the poster concerning Greg Cook is spot on. The greatest Cookieman story is the night he borrowed Coach Mac's golf cart and drove it around campus that night! The Campus police found it parked on the front steps of Broussard Hall the next morning.

There is a story about Kenny Stabler getting in a fight that involved several other people. They piled the other guys several into a squad car but let Stabler sit in one by himself while they talked it out. Then it turned out the responding officer had money on Bama in an upcoming game against Nebraska so they let him go.

Don't forget Danny LeBlanc beating up even little guys in bars!! I'm an 'old-timer' and in the late 50's and early 60's LOTS of high school seniors got BJ's from freshman girls..didn't have to be athletes, either.
It seems this only has become upsetting to some since integration, like 'thugs' didn't play sports at LSU, or any other SEC school prior to that. What B.S!!!

My sisters dad played O-Line from 86-90. He has tons of stories. Andolsek was a genuinely good guy but said he loved to intimidate people who fricked with football players, also some great stories of dudes getting knocked the f out by Eric. Also asked him said Eric did like a little RUN DMC so yeah.

Wow…posting about a deceased Tiger and what you supposedly heard about what he did “back in the day”…no wonder the rant is a laughing stock for the Gumps, Clangers, et al!
Eric played football like it was supposed to be played…ask Chris Spielman. You f’ers didn’t know him

Here's a Cantrelle story.

The tradition was when a football was to get married he was held down by teammates and his sack was shaved.

When Art was getting married some guys tried it. He was cornered in his room by a group of teammates. He didn't resist. He didn't fight them.

He told them go ahead if you want. I know all of you and there will be payback.

He went on his honeymoon with all the hair still on his body. EVERYWHERE.

Here's another one.

Some dude getting onto a bus one day in Baton Rouge flipped Cantrelle the bird. Art was in the car right behind the bus. He just took his time and followed it till the guy exited the bus. It wasn't pretty when it was all said and done.

The point of my post wasn't to talk bad about Andolsek. I don't think he was a thug. My point was that college athletes have always and will always get in bar fights. It's just the nature of the beast. I apologize to anyone who thought I was trying to talk down about Andolsek
