That's three DTs that can come off the bench to spell the starters. It's not like Godchaux and Lacouture are expected to play 60 minutes. I'm anxious to see Herron on the field anyway.

Deandre Clark will be another guy that can play inside or outside. Should also be a good one.

Dont forget we still have Q Thomas as well...

Are you new to the Rant? It's what we do.
First quarter? Punt? Games over! We're done.

Backup DL quits the team? Season over.

Rant 101.

I'm not in a panic, but LSU is down to 6 DTs and one is coming off injury, one hasn't done anything in 4 years and two haven't done anything in two years. Any reasonable person might have some concern.

It's crazy how so many just overlook Thomas. That is prime talent as a backup with starting experience. We may not be as deep, but we still have enough depth to have a good rotation unless we are depleted with injuries.

In the "Exp." (Experience) column of the LSU roster page, for both Herron and Gilmore it lists "SQ". That's the same as guys like Clise, Bergeron, Breda, Tharp, Leger, Burns, and Townsend.

Scrubs are just players who haven't had the chance to show up yet .

A few years ago we had a walk-on as our 5th DT

We should be ok but the new faces have to step up

Herron and Gilmore not playing last year is disconcerting to say the least. An underweight true freshman played instead.

Watch the spring game again and pay attention to these guys specfically. Herron got pushed around. Gilmore was tough, but should improve his hand technique.

This is the reason for the panic

Boom Herron could be huge if he lives up to his potential.

I agree. Thomas was set to not only be a starter, but a very good one pre injury, and still played. No reason to think he won't be back and better. No reason to think Coach O won't have a big impact on both the younger guys and vets. I think people will be pleased

Gilmore and Herron have been the definition of scrubs for 2 years.

Thomas has gotten hurt every year he's been at LSU.

We'll play a 3-4, so we only need 5 to get through the season, but I'm not sure those three will be part of the 5.

If you follow LSU football you know who they are Tigerfoot. I don't like to call players out who maybe doing the best they can and I appreciate their efforts. The hint is that is two 4 stars and a 5. Since LSU has a total of 6 DTs it shouldn't be hard to figure out. I still have hope for two of them anyway, heck all three this year.

I'm more concerned about next year. Thomas will be gone. Lacouture might come out early. Herron and Gilmore are draft eligible. I'm not sure if Godchaux can leave next year or not. We'll have at least 3 DT's (maybe more) coming in in our recruiting class but we're going to be really green next year.
